THE WELCOME TABLE

While I have always been a proud mother, among my many confessions is that I am also somewhat of literary snob. I don’t care who wrote it, for me to endorse a work, it must be GOOD! This book is in fact, mm , mm good.

I have had the privilege of being along for the ride on the most incredible journey. I have watched my daughter develop from a demure, soft spoken child, into a warrior of a young woman. One with her own welcome table, that she is ready to set for you. This book is much more than a collection of poems and recipes. It is a glossal experience, an experience of the tongue. The tongue appears as weapon and as healer. It is arrow and ointment. It bears witness to what is and proclaims what can be. It ushers you into a new experience and invites you to be a full participant, by preparing the table for you, and while I think I may have the best seat, I hope that you will chose your seat, sit down ,and enjoy!

INTRODUCTION

I am Ni-Emah Bugg. I’ve been struggling with realizing myself worth since forever. I am a beautiful human being. You are a beautiful human being. These poems are for me and you. These are poems for the journey of life so that it becomes that much sweeter. I am a singer, a poet, a cook, and overall an artist. The recipes I have included have no real measurements. Do not attempt to throw stuff in a bowl and assume it will work well, in most cases it won’t. Also my Nana(the fabulous Diva, R.I.P.) had a thing for giving recipes with not exact measurements or leaving ingredients out. She was just too sexy with hers to just give the recipe away. These recipes are just guidelines and are used as add-ons to the poems. I have made sure to give you both foods for the soul. Welcome to the gears of my mind. Enjoy.
