The Cards of Life: When All Hope Is Gone, Trust Then Believe
()
About this ebook
Life is not an even playing field; the cards youre dealt may not be the ones you desire, but if you keep playing your hand you could still win the game. It is what you do with your situation that counts. Dont throw in your hand and quit the game. Play it to the best of your ability.
I have witnessed what inspiration and motivation can do for children who have lost all hope or never once believed. This is my story: The Cards of Life. When all hope is gone, trust then believe.
Dr. Erica Pooler
People say I inspire them not sure why, I am a young girl from the hood that made it out. I dont consider myself to have all the answers. My childhood life was hell from as far back as I can remember. By the age of five years old I had been exposed to homelessness, child molestation, I was placed in foster care and four different living situations from one home to home, in and out of the court system, exposed to child protection agencies, father in prison, and mother in and out of jail and addicted to crack cocaine all of this was my life as far as what I can remember and all before kindergarten. I have lived through lifes many struggles and persevered through every storm that blew my way. I am writing this story to inspire people of all ages who are going through their storm with the hopes of motivating them to keep moving forward. Encouraging them to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I want people to know it is not where you start but how you finish. Life is like a deck of cards, you have no control of the hand that you are delt. Its what you do with that hand that counts. Don't throw in your hand and quit the game. Play it to the best of your ability. Allow your struggles to make you a better you. I would not be the woman I am today if God had not allowed me to go through the hurt and pain of my past. My journey from the age of 4 years old dealing with molestation, mother addicted to crack and men that were no good for her or her kids, the judicial system, foster care, being separated from siblings, father in prison, no male role model, teenage pregnancy, failure in school, juvenile detention centers, alternative schools and death all around me. I overcame these obstacles and persevered to ironically become a full time working mother of five, with a Bachelors, Masters, Specialist, and Doctorates Degree by 27 years old and a school administrator by 30 ironically at an Alternative School in Seminole County. I am qualified to give my experience and expertise because in my life speaks for itself. I have been told that I inspire students and teachers everyday to not give up. I encourage these children and not give in to the statistics that say that they will amount to nothing because of the hand that they are delt from the cards of life... I have been in education for 15 years in ESE classes, general education, and Title One and Underprivileged schools. I have witnessed what inspiration and motivation can do for children who have lost all hope and who never once believed. This is my story....
