About this ebook
Be a Winner in Life is written for kids, to save them from the destructive life styles so many of them are falling into.
It is also a support to parents who are raising their kids at a most difficult time. It is written to give parents help, hope and encouragement.
Our younger generation is at risk. So many are into drugs and alcohol, at an early age, and are on the road to destruction. There are so many negative influences, which they blindly fall into. Most of these young people are unaware of the consequences of the choices they are making.
Eva Fry is fully aware of the consequences of their choices. Each week she sees the result, in kids locked up at Juvenile Hall, in San Diego who are destroying their future and potential. She has presented her program Be a Winner in Life for eight years to over 10,000 troubled youth and understands why they are locked up and what they must do to get their lives back on track.
This book talks about good and evil and making the right choices and the consequences of bad choices. She talks about plain and simple God given truths, which result in happy and successful lives.
This book is a must read for all young people and their parents.
If you have a child or friend who is now locked up, this book could save their life. Make sure they have a copy and encourage them to read it.
Eva Fry
Eva Fry has dedicated her life to helping troubled kids. She began her program Be a Winner in Life at Juvenile Hall in San Diego in 1994 and has spoken to over 10,000 incarcerated kids, aged ten to eighteen. Eva was raised in a troubled home with an alcoholic father and emotionally disturbed mother. She understands the pain many of these young people have experienced and the wrong choices so many of them make. She shares with them how she broke the destructive life cycle of her family and began a new healthy cycle for her own children and grandchildren. This book is a result of her desire to teach children and their parents the secrets to successful living and to keep kids away from choices, which destroy their future and their potential. She hopes to support parents and help them keep their kids on the straight and narrow. Her goal is to save our younger generation from the evil path so many are following. Eva Fry lives in San Diego California with her husband, Al, of 44 years.

PREFACE
YOU ARE IMPORTANT
I am writing to you young people with hopes that what I share will encourage you and give you hope for a bright future. I want you to recognize your potential and to believe you have amazing things to do with your life. I have lived long enough to know what I will tell you is true. Every day I see the consequence of choices made by kids who are locked up and wasting their lives, and I hope to help you avoid their mistakes. I want to give you a clear vision of how you can have a happy and successful life and enjoy your time here on earth.
You are young and special. You are a child of God, born with gifts, talents, abilities, intelligence and potential. You have important things to do with your life. You have a life mission.
You were not born to waste your life. You were born to discover your potential and to enjoy the happiness of reaching it. You were born to be a winner in life. A winner never quits and a quitter never wins. Be determined not to let anyone or anything stop you from living a good, clean and successful life.
Get excited about your life and its many possibilities. What you become depends on you! The choices you make will lead to your potential or away from it. You can never blame anyone else for the life you get.
MESSAGE TO PARENTS
Although this book is written for young people, I must first address those of you who influence them—parents and the ones who are responsible for the world in which they are being raised.
Many of the young people of this generation are in trouble. More young people than ever before are drinking alcohol and using drugs at a young age, and so many of them are rebellious and even in trouble with the law. Although the majority of our kids are good kids, every day we hear of extremely violent things kids are doing—like the eleven and thirteen-year-old children in Arkansas who ambushed their teachers and classmates on the school grounds.
What is going on?
If we are honest, the reason is not hard to figure out! It is because of our immoral world. The older generation is not setting a moral example and we are leaving God out of their lives. As a nation, we are reaping the consequences. Kids can’t say prayers in school but they can watch hours of killings in movies and on television.
We have allowed our world to become violent so our children are violent. In a world lacking morals and values, how can life have any value for them? If we fill their heads with perversions and violence, we can end up with perverted and violent children.
We also allow destroyers, like alcohol, to be legalized. We then wonder why the kids drink alcohol and use illegal drugs. While under their influence, some of them commit horrendous crimes. And we wonder what is wrong with our kids!
Do we have a double standard here? We think it’s okay for grown-ups to do these things but are then shocked at the way our kids turn out when they do the same things they see us, their parents and peers, do.
While we are trying to figure out the solutions to our violent youth, our whole society is becoming more perverted and violent, right down to some of the leaders of our country. Our society is headed in a downward moral spiral; how do our kids have a chance?
What is the answer? How are we going to save our kids and ourselves? There is only one solution to the downfall of our youth. We individually are responsible for the solution. Each one of us has to look into our own hearts to see what our contribution to the downfall of our kids and our society is. What are we doing to contribute to the problem? How can we solve the problem?
There are many things we can do. We have the power to improve our world for the sake of our kids.
First, we must each choose to live a righteous life and be a positive example and role model to our kids. Then we must teach our children what goodness is, through our example. We must remember that if we are not a part of the solution, we are a part of the problem.
We need to help them gain a personal relationship with their Father-in-Heaven and his son Jesus Christ. We must help them know truth through scripture study so they will have the knowledge and wisdom to make correct choices in their lives. We must teach them to pray.
We must take them to church where they can be immersed in God’s loving spirit and can associate with good people who will love them and assist you in raising them.
We must make our homes a safe haven where they know they are loved. We must make time for them, individually and as a family. We need to build loving relationships with them so they know they can always talk to us.
We must encourage them to choose good friends and open our homes to their friends.
We must encourage them to get involved in healthy activities.
I am so grateful I was able to raise my children this way because they have turned out to be good, responsible adults who walk in faith and are now raising my grandchildren the same way. These principals work. I recommend them.
We need to get back to the basic moral
