The Research
Business Value Drivers Study
As founder of my company, Value Growth Institute, I’ve noted that according to recent statistics¹, privately-held businesses or small businesses account for half the gross domestic products and employment in this country. As a result, I established the Business Value Drivers Study (BVDS) and launched an ongoing research study to help small businesses make effective decisions in creating value in their businesses for the owners and society alike.
The Business Value Drivers Study (BVDs) is the first comprehensive and situationally based investigation of tension of mission critical activities (MCAs) for business owners. The study, deployed May 2010, specifically examined each of the mission critical activities. The BVDS looks at the tension level of each mission critical activity and provides suggestions on untapped potential opportunities in any given activity among the study group.
SKU-000600417_TEXT.pdfIt is my desire that the interviews of this Business Value Drivers (BVD) study demonstrate how any business owner can complete Mission Critical Activities (MCAs). I hope this helps all business owners increase their ability, challenge themselves and drive themselves toward building value in their business—value that matters in their own personal life goals. With this foundation, along with proper discipline, accountability and structure, any business owner can build the value they deserve from their business and realize their dreams.
What Drives Business Value?
The majority of business owners will tell you they are in business because they want to make more money and gain financial independence. Over the years, I have seen many successful business owners create value in their businesses, and thus, for themselves, by focusing on mission-critical activities.
Are you creating the value in your business needed to make financial independence a reality? How can you know if what you are doing will ultimately lead to this goal? Not every business owner has the insight, knowledge or intuition to recognize what will boost the value of his or her company without training.
But is owning and operating a successful² business a skill that can be learned or
