About this ebook
He has had many adventures of which these are just a few. I hope you get as much pleasure from reading about Ollie as I have had in writing about him.
Diane Smiley
I was born in North London in 1940 just after war broke out. So far it has been a rather adventurous and full life. Along the way, I have had four children, and I now have five grandchildren. Being able to write poetry has always been part of that life. It has given me a lot of pleasure, and I have written many poems, although most of which have been lost or discarded along the way, but some stay close, as with Ollie. I would like to say a big thank you for all the help I have received: to Alan Scarlett, to little Henry whose mum allowed me to use his name for one of my characters. To all those who have read and re-read my early attempts, especially Charlee, Baylee, Georgia, Harry, and Jessica, my grandchildren, who have added their thoughts and comments and to whom this little book is dedicated.

but he was such a sorry sight, that I didn’t really mind.
So gently I carried him to the fireside and handed him a hot
