I, like most people, was particularly intrigued by and interested in the 2008 presidential election. It was suggested that there was more interest in that year’s presidential election than any other in recent history. People who had never voted and others who had decided not to vote in the past were now lining up in droves to go to the caucuses and to the polls and to the rallies to support the candidate of their choice.
Even people from other nations were paying particular attention to the changes in our leadership, and they watched curiously as we went through the process of choosing the next leader of the most powerful nation on the planet.
Aside from the historic implications regarding racial and gender issues, I think people could feel a change and a shift in the atmosphere. They knew that the person we were about to choose to put in that office would define where the country was going, and would make important decisions that would affect our nation for the next several years—possibly for several generations to
