About this ebook

Given the imperfections of our society and the apparent downward spiral of spiritual and moral values seen in recent years; loving, caring and respecting someone has almost become a thing of the past. Indeed, these once natural emotions and reactions to one another seem to have diminished so rapidly that even finding true, loyal friends, acquaintances and family members who support and encourage you and who partake in your successes can be difficult.

Perhaps I am too critical when I say this but maybe its because it is this context in which I consider the following true story of a man who felt significant pain, and reflects the context in which I have endured my own pain over time.

This book has been difficult for me to write. There are sections where I will be explaining certain things to you, the reader, about my very own thoughts and feelings regarding the hurtful insinuations and malicious gossip certain people have spread around about me to try and discredit me and bring about my downfall.

You will find that I havent mentioned any real names or named places of where events have taken place. Instead I have gathered together information on the situations I have endured, and of those that apply to the story provided here that of a man who felt immense pain, How deeply we who love the Lord God desire to follow him and draw strength from him in order to gain power to surmount all the difficulties and test and conflicts in life in the same exultant and triumphant way that he had previously displayed.

To learn the secret of victorious living has been the hearts desire of those who love the Lord God, in every generation. We who follow God all strive to help victims find hope and victory here on this earth and during this life. We hope that through our input, they will be able to always react to evil, tribulation, sorrow, pain and every negative situation that they experience in such a way that allows them to transform their emotions into something positive and that they too seek to praise God forever.

    Endnotes

I dedicate this book to all people of all religions and beliefs.

This book is dedicated to everyone who has experienced trials and tribulations throughout their lives.

I also dedicate this book specifically to my wife, Paullette, for always keeping the family together, no matter what, and for never allowing the obstacles that have been put before us to dampen our spirits.

    Foreword

I have been given the great privilege of reading Peter Cole’s book in advance of publication. This book is about the power and strength that an individual can hold and how, in the face of pain, suffering, loss, and betrayal, the internal power and strength of a human being can allow them to achieve greatness.

Throughout this book we learn about Peter Cole and his wife’s struggle to achieve Peter’s goal of establishing a successful company in London. We witness their personal and financial struggle to turn their dreams of corporate success into a reality. We see the betrayal that fell upon them as heavily as friends and family members took advantage of their success, their good nature, and their positive work ethic. We see how faith and belief, in each other as well as in God, enabled them to move past such betrayal and to use the energy it created to help them realise their ultimate ambitions.

Peter Cole is a highly respected business man and author of the novel From the Bottom to the Top: Story of a Man Called Larry, which was published in 2011.

Peter Cole’s books are sure to delight and stimulate children and adult readers alike. This book, Standing in Pain–Stronger than Before, draws the reader in from the opening sentence and goes on to conclude brilliantly, leaving me with a true alliance to this writer’s literary works. For this, I can only congratulate him.

    Introduction

The quest for ‘victorious living’ had eluded me for most of my life. I searched for it in many places, but the simple fact was that I had it all along. I just had to open my eyes, heart, and mind to the possibilities that had always been within my grasp.

This book is about my journey through a painful time of my life and how l overcome the petty travails of those around me. There will be people who try to put you down, but if you believe in yourself and live the true love of God, you will rise above these inconsequential human conditions and enjoy the simple joy that life can bring to you.

This book has been difficult for me to write. It puts down in black and white some of the most painful times of my life. In this book I outline my thoughts and feelings regarding the hurtful insinuations and malicious gossip individuals that I trusted and loved spread around in their quest to discredit me and bring about my downfall. Looking back, I still cannot believe the betrayal that I have witnessed and the naivety I displayed in the way I so easily formed relationships with others. What I can say, however, is that I was once a man who never truly appreciated the power of ‘real’ human relationships, the strength of human nature, the motivation that can be found through God, and the drive that we all have within us to achieve and succeed. My journey has led me to appreciate and celebrate these qualities wholeheartedly.

How deeply we who love the Lord God desire to follow him and draw strength from him to surmount all the difficulties and conflicts of life in the same exultant and triumphant way that he showed us. To learn the secret of ‘victorious living’ has been the heart’s desire of those who love the Lord God in every generation. We who follow God all strive to help victims find hope and victory here on this Earth and during this life. We hope that through our input they will be able to always react to evil, tribulation, sorrow, pain, and negative situations in such a way that they may transform their emotions into something positive.

To me, dear friends and readers, you never can be too old, as long as you are willing to serve. You are as beautiful as the Creator intended you to be.

David, the inspired poet of ancient time, said, ‘I will praise thee, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works, and that my soul knoweth
