About this ebook

To Touch a Woman offers a collection of poetry dedicated to women and the spells they cast upon the world around them. Author Robert Dollarhide chronicles the good and bad times that are an integral part of every relationship. The poems illustrate the texture of the emotions that everyone experiences in the course of their relationships. Written from the heart and exploring love and loss, beginnings and ending of relationships, life and death, anger and adoration, these verses seek to honor that finest of Gods works: the woman.

A Beautiful Thing

That first kiss!
Lips, so very, very soft.
So sweet, so lovely.
Holding you in my arms.
Feeling you against me.
Kissing you under the soft light of the moon.
You are such a beautiful thing.
Touching the soft line of your jaw,
Your smooth cheek.
I had wanted to since that night we sat on the couch watching movies.
I spent most of the time watching you.
Soaking in details.
So pretty, such fine features.
The slight pressure and warmth as you leaned against me.
This night we stand embraced.
The sound of waves, the cool breeze, a soft still night.
Moonlight broken by scattered clouds.
The feeling as I touched the small of your back.
The feel of your skin against my hand.
You felt amazing

    You felt amazing.

The athletic lines of your body.

    Under the softness of skin.

Warmth against the coolness of night.

    Such perfection of form.

Holding you, swaying to unheard music.

I loved the initial explorations of your body.

    You felt so very good.

I am in awe thinking about it as I write this.

Your kisses, the way you felt under my touch.

    You took my breath away.

I could feel such a radiance about you.

It stilled me and made my heart skip a beat.

    To which you can attest.

    So beautiful under the moonlight.

    Such a sweet scent.

    Such a beautiful thing.

I haven’t kissed a woman so much in a long time.

And I enjoyed it above all things.

It was such an incredible feeling.

You drew something out of me that I had forgotten existed.

That version of love without the mask of the world wrapped around it.

    A true and honest feeling.

I knew that I would do whatever I could to make you happy.

To make myself worthy of your love.

You are worth my very best.

    And so much more.

You are the kind of woman I had dreamed of,

When love first formed in my mind so long ago.

A love that seemed so unreal that I put it out of my mind.

    And forgot that it existed.

    A love that I forgot that I,

    Or anyone else,

    Was capable of.

It amazes me that I had forgotten what love really felt like.

I know I must be patient.

I must wait for you and your acceptance.

    I will be patient.

    You are worth it.

I say to you that I will,

And I mean it with every ounce of my being.

And I say with wonder and surety under the face of God.

That this will be such a beautiful thing.

    A Good Woman

    I saw you again today.

    It has been months.

    Withdrawals for me,

burning you out of my system.

And yet talking to you refreshes my soul.

    You are a good woman.

Beautiful and so fun to be around.

The kind of woman it is easy to spend hours around.

Not an easy task for me.

I have been impatient with my desires around you,

    And with others.

    It is different now though.

Not the sexually motivated fervor as before.

We are comforts to each other’s hearts.

    Tried and true refuges.

    We love each other.

But in that truer and better way.

    Dear to each other.

    Fond memories.

We remember our love and let our mistakes fall by the wayside.

    Friends tight.

Not lovers but we love one another.

    You my dear sweet girl,

    My lovely woman.

You are the best among women.
