About this ebook

Giving birth to a child is one of the greatest gifts a family can have, "the gift of life." A Miracle Named David is a book filled with tears and laughter, as this compassionate grandmother shares her heart and testimony concerning her special grandchildren. She shares the births, health problems and triumphs. This book celebrates the way her faith helped her to deal with the health challenges that beset the newborns. She informs the readers of the ins and outs of neonatal intensive care, better known as NICU.
A Miracle Named David is a heart-warming true story of the unanticipated journey during the mother's pregnancy and premature delivery of her newborn. During the pregnancy she was given the odds that her baby had a one percent chance of survival and everything looked hopeless in the beginning, but the story did not end there. Dorothy also shares how NICU would be revisited in the next few years by three other grandbabies.
Anyone reading this book will release doubt and know that miracles really do happen. The experience gives us a fresh awareness of Gods presence and his healing power. It was through unity in prayer by family, friends and strangers that changed the circumstances in the lives of all four newborns.
Miracles do happen and this book is truly the story of "A Miracle Named David".

What key Christian leaders are saying about

Dorothy Ferrell and the book A Miracle Named David

Who would have thought that a chance encounter on one of the coldest days in February would result in the start of a new friendship? Picture this rare moment: a cold, snowy day in Texas during NBA All-Star weekend in the Dallas/Fort Worth metropolitan area. There is a knock at my door, and it is someone I have never had the pleasure of meeting before. Given the severity of the weather, I cautiously invited this person into my home.

A woman who is tightly bundled in winter attire walks through the door. She had a warm and nervous smile on her face, and after a brief introduction, I discover that she is my new neighbor. Unfortunately, she braved the wintry weather to nervously ask me to lower the volume of my music, which I was accustomed to blasting since there were no neighbors next to me. This awkward encounter was how I had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Dorothy Ferrell. It was this encounter that started the great relationship we have today.

Since our initial encounter, we have both shared stories and gained insight into each other’s lives. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that she was an author and that she was working on a new book. She began to describe the circumstances in her life that motivated her to begin writing this book. I saw the look in her eyes and the emotion in her voice as she shared her experience with me. As a pediatrician, I knew that look. I had seen it many times before and instantaneously connected with her story. During my residency, I had to share many unpleasant experiences and endure the uncertainties of modern medicine with families. It was those experiences that sharpened my awareness of that look.

A Miracle Named David is a heartfelt story of the unanticipated journey of a Christian family’s faith and trust in God during the pregnancy, delivery, and life of their family’s new addition. It is a true testament to the collective spiritual power of family and friends. This experience not
