About this ebook

The Rising Son is about the death and resurrection of Jesus and it's the sequel to One Glorious Night, which focuses on His birth. Once again, there are seven stories by seven different people who knew and loved Jesus, and who watched Him die on the cross that very dark day many years ago. Each story is filled with Scriptural facts and highlighted with emotion as they each tell their story of what they experienced that day when Jesus died on the cross.

The purpose of this book is to help readers understand who Jesus is and why He came to be our Savior. Together with biblical facts, you’ll see the impact it had on the lives as of those who walked with Him, and hopefully, you will be able to see through their eyes and see what they saw in God’s love that was fulfilled that day on the cross.

The Old Testament prophets talked about it, and the faithful men and women of God lived for it. They knew that a Savior would come one day who would redeem them back to God, and so they waited and hoped for the promised Messiah. This promise that God made to the Jews was manifest in the New Testament with the birth of Jesus and was fulfilled on Calvary’s cross with His death and resurrection. His earthly life is set out in the four gospels of the New Testament, and these are the passages referenced in this book.

The world doesn’t know God or appreciate the salvation He provided because the people don't realize that they are sinners in need of a Savior. They see Easter as a time to celebrate spring with colorful bunnies and awesome egg hunts. But it has nothing to do with how or why Christians celebrate. The world can honor Easter any it wants, but Christians honor God because He gave His own Son as a ransom for our lives! Easter is a time to celebrate our salvation!

    Introduction

Easter has become a holiday favorite for both Christians and non-Christians. It’s that one special time of year when many people attend church and are reminded that Jesus died on the cross for their sins. Then to celebrate, they go home to a feast with chocolates and Easter bunnies, and an egg hunt with the family. But the Spirit of Easter is much more than a once-a-year celebration—and it doesn’t include bunnies or eggs. We need to learn the truth and get it deep into our heart, so it becomes alive in us every day!

This book is about the death and resurrection of Jesus and is the sequel to One Glorious Night, which focuses on His birth. It’s filled with personal stories of this miraculous event as witnessed by the people who knew Him. Narrated through the imagination of this author, each one is highlighted with emotion, and will help you understand who Jesus is and why He came to be our Savior. Together with biblical facts, you’ll see the impact it had on their lives as they share God’s love that was fulfilled that day on the cross.

The promise of salvation was originally given to Abraham and was passed on to his son Isaac who had a son named Jacob and then to Jacob’s 12 sons, who began the nation of Israel. But God also told Abraham that when the Messiah comes, His salvation would be given to every person who accepts Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 12:13, By one Spirit we are all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

Because of the salvation that Jesus has given freely to everyone, those who accept it are no longer defined as being either Jew or Gentile—we are now one nation made up of Jews and Gentiles. So, every person who accepts the salvation of Jesus is part of this new nation, God’s kingdom.

The world doesn’t know God or appreciate the salvation He provided.

I hope The Rising Son will help you to know why we celebrate Easter; a celebration more appropriately called, Resurrection Day!

    Preface

The glorious event of the birth of Jesus is the beginning of the greatest act of love ever bestowed on anyone. And His death and resurrection complete His purpose and gives to us who believe, the promise of salvation so our sins will be removed and we can be with God forever. This is the greatest display of love any Father can give to His children!

The world celebrates Christmas with Santa and reindeer, decorated trees and gift giving. And the season we know as Easter is highlighted by its own icons, namely the Easter bunny, an abundance of chocolate treats and the infamous egg hunt. But to Christians, these two events should be celebrations that give glory and honor to Jesus, the One who was born at Christmas and who died and then rose on that great Resurrection Day!

The world wants to operate in unity, and with so many religions and even more diversities of Christian beliefs, it’s most convenient for everyone to just remove the person of Jesus from the equation and replace Him with celebrations that everyone can enjoy. And so, the idea of someone dying on a cross has been eliminated because it’s too morbid for our modern lives, and it has been replaced with a happy, cute and fuzzy bunny and chocolate eggs.

Humanity has drifted so far from God that the reality of our salvation has become an old-fashioned religion that only a few Christians cling to. It doesn’t fit into today’s society of convenience. The new world religion agrees that Jesus died on the cross and rose again, but it claims that everyone is automatically saved and that salvation no longer requires repentance and forgiveness, or being born with God’s Spirit. This deception has camouflaged the truth so that the world doesn’t even know who Jesus is anymore—and sadly, neither do many so-called Christians.

Perhaps one of the greatest tools used to deceive us can be accredited to Big Business. It takes advantage of the greed of people. In fact, it has become a carnal leader that controls the people as it abuses what used to be a sacred event and turns it into a season of big financial gain. And the market has been planned carefully, and that market is our children! Stores are decorated to the nines, and new and more expensive and more colorful and elaborate things are available every year that glorify the Easter Bunny. And slowly but surely, our own hearts and minds are being severed from worshipping God to glorifying this false god.

Christians cannot compromise the truth with the hype of worldly ambiance for the season. We need to open our eyes and our hearts and see the truth—and live it! We cannot raise our children in the ideologies of this world and then assume that they’ll all get into Heaven. We need to get the truth inside our hearts so that we can love our children as Jesus loves us. And then we need to teach them the truth so that they can also receive salvation and spend eternity with our Savior.

There have been many books published and countless movies made on the death and resurrection of Jesus. And some of them have been a blessing to us and have helped us to see the love that God has for us. This book was written to go a step further; it’s based on Scripture and illustrated through this author’s imagination to give personal testimonies from those who knew and loved Jesus. And it’s written with great emotion as each one describes the impact that His death and resurrection had on their lives. We will be able to see Jesus through their eyes and hopefully, get a better understanding of what He accomplished on the cross.

But first, we have to go back in time to learn why it was necessary for Jesus to come in the first place—why we even need salvation. This is found in Genesis chapter three.

When God created the Garden of Eden, He put two people in it. First, He made Adam and breathed His Spirit into him. And God loved Adam, and He gave him full charge of the garden and of all the animals that were in it. But He also gave Adam one commandment; he was not to eat the fruit from one specific tree, the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil that was planted in the center of the garden. Then God formed a woman from Adam’s rib, and Eve was to be his helper and partner throughout his life. God was pleased with His creation, and He spent a lot of time with Adam and Eve in the garden. It was a time of ultimate peace and joy for everyone. They were a family, and God said it was good!

But an angry devil was lurking in the shadows outside the garden, waiting to enter and destroy it. His name was Lucifer, and he was one of God’s angels, exceptionally gifted in musical talent and arrayed in beauty who once dwelled in Heaven with God. But one day, he decided that he wanted to be God and rule over Heaven and over all the other angels. His rebellion was caught at the onset, and he was cast out of Heaven and into the heavens, which we know as the universe. Then Lucifer’s name was changed to Satan, the devil, and in his anger and with a vengeance, he swore that he would take God’s world from Him and become king over it.

So, he possessed the body of a serpent and slithered into the garden and deceived Eve into eating the fruit. She then took some of the fruit to Adam, and although he knew it was wrong, he ate it. The devil got Eve to defy God by deceiving her, but it was through Adam’s disobedience to God that sin was brought upon him and upon all mankind after that.

God was angry, but He was also
