Les Cinquantes Sonnets: The Fifty Sonnets

About this ebook
Kelechukwu Brnfre (www.kelechukwubrnfre.com)
This is my first book of poetry that includes my signature poem "Zero."
I wrote this book as a gift to my fiancee at the time for her birthday. I wrote 34 poems for her 34th birthday in the form of Sonnets. I was reading Shakespeare at the time and I was inspired by his sonnets but I formed all of these poems in 16 lines because her favorite number was 16. The first 34 poems were influenced by her and the last 17 poems were influenced by a mixture of people, emotions and situations.
I am very thankful for Erica Walker reading it over and encouraging me to make all of last 17 stay consistent with a theme of love, a subject I struggle to write about because it is so subjective. Loving a family member or your children is different from a person you are involved with intimately in a relationship.
The format of this book starts with zero and goes to fifty. I used French because I am bilingual French and it seemed to fit the scheme and format of the subject matter in the book.
Kelechukwu Brnfre
Kelechukwu Brnfre (www.kelechukwubrnfre.com) is a founding member of Beautiful Soul and the original host of the Beautiful Soul Tuesday Night Mixer (www.beautifulsoulgary.com) a weekly poetry open mic for poets, vocalists and musicians. Beautiful Soul has grown into an artistic collective of independent artists whose purpose is to make humanity better by first bettering themselves, their families and their community. Kelechukwu Brnfre is a very meticulous poet that tries to relay meaning in all of his actions. He says he feels if he is not reading, creating or teaching then he is surely sleeping. The mantra that he writes from is to "design for the rewind." In his own words: "If it is not worth listening to or reading again then it may not be worth hearing or reading the first time to me." I am an extremely disciplined artist that wants my work to positively affect humanity as a whole and poor people in general until there are no more poor people. "To see a person die because of poverty is to watch a preventable death that only reflects the callousness of the abuse of wealth." Economic poverty does not reflect the spirit and does not show a person's true wealth. I write because it is very therapeutic and my personal outlet for all of the thoughts and ideas that constantly go through my head.
