Poems of Praise, Hope and Inspiration
()
About this ebook
These poems are meant to encourage those
Who now are in despair
Those who knowingly have made the choice
To put their souls in for repair
Giving themselves unto the Lord
And following His instruction
Studying daily in his word
Is helpful (in my deduction)
This book is full of Truth and Grace
And I intended it to be
Help for the entire human race
If they take time to read and see
When you sing praises to God above
And count your blessings so real -
He will send to you, abundant love
Changing the way that your heart feels
In this book there is encouragement and hope
Peace, Joy, and giving of Thanks
Pure sweet love that can help you cope
And fill in most of life's blanks
There is no need for dread or for worry
If you have chosen Jesus Christ as your way
His promise is "to receive you in glory"
Because you have refused to let Satan sway
I have written this book to be uplifting
Most readers, I won't be privileged to know
I pray these verses a blessing
As through this life's journey you go.
David L. Harris
I was born in April, 1936 at home, in Nogales, Arizona. Nogales, Arizona is shared with Nogales, Mexico. We used to say "going across the line." When I started school at age 6, it was in a small border village called Lochiel about 25 or 30 miles East of Nogales. I went to a little one room, one teacher, 8 grades school. About halfway through 2nd grade we moved back to Nogales. I moved from Nogales to the little community at McGee Ranch (where I reside currently). When I started 4th grade. This also was a single room, one teacher, eight grade school. We had a lot of trouble keeping a school teachers until I reached the 6th grade. Finally, the county school superintendent in Tucson sent a teacher, who herself was a rancher and she was my teacher through grade 8. It was through this great woman's teaching that I learned to enjoy poetry. She taught us so many things that I have been thankful for all my life. I learned and recited many American, and some English poems (Sir Walter Scott, Alfred Lord Tennyson, Longfellow, James Whitcomb Riley, etc) I didn't start writing poetry until the 1980's except for some personal greeting cards, like family weddings, birthdays, anniversary's and some odes I read at peoples funeral services.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
A GIFT
The Lord gave me a gift to write
In verse about his ways
About His love-He is the light
That brightens all our days
When in faith we cling to Him
And always, on His word stand
He will forgive our every sin
So let us take His outstretched hand
By walking hand in hand with God
We’ll have love beyond compare
He is our strength; our unbinding rod
To be with us everywhere
The sacrifice of Jesus Christ
May I always keep in sight’
Up on the cross He paid the price,
And gave me a gift to write

MY TEACHER
Long ago, to a schoolhouse on a hill
God sent a woman in Levis
To use her teaching skills
She taught us all so many things
That have been helpfull through our days
What I want to thank her for the most
