Jordon And Little Mouse - Janet lilethia Harvey

    Chapter One

It seemed a tornado had just torn through the front door of 1234 Stouffville Road,  leaving a path of destruction down the hall all the way to the kitchen table where a lunch bag had been placed on its side.

A knapsack pitched off the shoulder lay on the floor in the den, and a book slipped out of it was face up halfway under the coffee table. One sneaker was in one direction, the other in another, and a jacket was dropped in front of the hall closets on the freshly washed ceramic tile.

Jordon, having just come home from school, was famished. He headed to the kitchen for a bite to eat before supper. The smell of freshly baked cookies, muffins, and pies filled his nose. His mouth salivated as he thought of the yummy treats Grandma had just baked, not to mention what was in the cupboards. He tore open the French doors into the kitchen and flicked the light switch on. The oven was still on, a pot on the stove with the burner on low. He opened the cupboard where the snacks were kept. Then he froze, and every hair on his body stood on end. "Grandma, are you here?" he shouted. But there was no sign of her. There was a shuffling he just couldn't put his finger on.

An unfamiliar noise was coming from one of the cupboards he was about to open.

He held back and listened quietly, trying to figure out what it could be. He thought maybe the cat had somehow gotten locked in the cupboard. Jordon decided to look into it.

He ignored the growls of his stomach even though the aromas were driving him nuts — the smell of the delicious stew cooking in the slow cooker on the counter. Dinner was going to be yummy, for sure!

But at the moment Jordon needed to solve this. His investigative juices were flowing. He had to solve the mystery.

He searched everywhere, but he couldn't find where the sound originated.

He opened the cupboard under the sink.

    Nothing.

    He spotted the lazy Susan
