Chapter One

As the contract states, you may and should mate with every available and consenting male until pregnancy has been confirmed. You shall stay for no longer than two years, unless a child is conceived and you wish to stay with the child.

Kennedy rubbed at her temples. What was she thinking? Yeah, she was broke. And she really didn’t have anyone to be accountable to, but she knew damn well signing this contract would turn her into a modern day leper – she’d never again be accepted into society, would never again be accepted by a human male.

But five hundred thousand dollars to have sex with a bunch of guys was just too much to pass up.

She’d never been one to sleep around, per se, had never been much into one-night stands – although she’d had her share in college – but she was far from a prude. Hell, she’d even experimented with women at one point, wondering if she was missing out on something.

This was more than just a new sexual experience, though. This could result in a child. Hell, the whole reason for the Shifters hiring human women was to breed. Because Shifters were born strictly male, they relied on human women to carry the next generation. Where in the past centuries, women were unknowingly seduced, taken by force, or sold by their families, now that everything that was once thought of as nothing more than fairy tales were out in the open, the Shifters could simply hire a surrogate.

She’d only ever heard of one other woman staying with the Shifters after her child was born. She was well in her eighties now. What Kennedy couldn’t figure out is why or how any woman could walk away from her own baby, regardless of how they came into the world.

Miss Stateman? the Shifters' Alpha, Callum said. Did you hear me?

Yeah, she said, dropping her hand from her temples. Yeah. I heard you. Okay, so how many of you are there, exactly?

Callum glanced at his second, Kyler, and gave a shrug. It was Kyler who answered, his eyes appraising Kennedy from head to toe. There are currently only five males who have volunteered for this round of mating.

Kennedy frowned. Had only five volunteered after seeing her? And why the hell should she be disappointed by that fact? There had to be dozens of Shifters in this pack alone. There was no way her body could take screwing that many males.

You are aware that once you sign this contract, you will no longer be able to turn down any advances from any member of my pack, Callum stated.

Wait a second, she said, holding her hand in the air. You said only five.

I should’ve worded that better. Yes, there are only five involved. But at any point in time, any one or more of the five males might approach you. Are you sure you’re prepared to spend the next few months, maybe even a year being subjected to repeated matings?

She hated the way he talked about this. Maybe if he’d said they’d all want to make love to her, or even fuck her; instead, it sounded more like she was just ovaries on two legs.

In a way, she really was.

Once I sign this contract, when will the money be in my hands?

Upon conception. If, after two years you have not conceived, you are free to go with the money.

"And how long after moving in with your pack will the…mating begin?

Callum and Kyler exchanged a look. We prefer to give the women at least a night to get situated. But every once in a while, they are just as eager to mate with our males as we are with you.

Did that mean… Will the two of you be involved?

Again, Callum and Kyler exchanged a look. The Alpha and his second are always involved in the matings. It’s tradition.

Kennedy studied the two males; they were both an inch or two over six feet, had broad shoulders, were built like damn foot ball players and had the chiseled faces of a superhero. Honestly, if all five were this appealing, she might just enjoy herself.
