Creature Of The Night - Clement Scott
Chapter 1
Ever since the first incident, everything has been tense at at the camp. Fear spread around after James went missing. It had been two days since he stopped showing up. A prior disappearance once stirred up the pot, but really it was just Big Tim trying to run away from the job. He was out until the morning before he came crawling back to the main camp area.
Nobody could survive the Eagle Cap Wilderness alone. The Oregon forests were cruel to man. Tim made sure to bring everything he needed to with him. He dragged along a tent and rations and water, and he still couldn’t survive alone. The isolation in the trees shook him to his core. He received his just dues of his coworkers calling him
That’s why at first everyone turned an eye to James vanishing. They all just thought he wanted to run away from the job like Tim, and that by the next three meals he would be back. Aside from the random call-out when they were clearing the forests, nobody searched for the missing logger.
It was Mark who found James, or at least what was left of him. James had been reduced to nothing but a skeleton. From that moment on the logging camp had an uneasy aura about it. There were reasons that could have explained why what did happened had. However, there was just something about the entire situation that felt off.
To Matthew, nothing added up. He was the only one who took notice of how quickly James had been picked to bones. It wasn’t natural. Even if there were animals who were picking at him, there still would have been something left on him. For there to be absolutely nothing meant that there was something bigger to the entire situation.
Matthew was the supervisor of the logging camp. His duty was to make sure the job got done. They were supposed to be in and out of the camp site in a couple of weeks. The death was sure to get the company paying money, but that didn’t fall under Matthew’s responsibility. The supervisor couldn’t help but feel bad. He was supposed to watch over the poor guy, and because they didn’t search hard enough and he ended up dead.
Matthew was a nice young man. He had worked with the logging company for years now. It was a way to make money, and actually a pretty good one. The days were long, but he was able to spend them in nature. Whenever he was just a worker and not a supervisor, he would spend his free time going out and fishing with a couple of his friends he had made on the job. One of those friends was still with him to this day: Chip.
Chip was with Matthew on his very first logging job, and they’ve been friends ever since. Their friendship was a weird one. The two men liked different things and came from different backgrounds, but because they both took the logging jobs and loved them they
