The Curious Case Of The Wandering Cats - Clement Scott

    Chapter 1

It’s not an easy job being a detective, especially during the summer time as there is nothing worth working for with even the worse criminal gone missing on some over expensive vacation. It is especially hard for detectives that, to put it mildly, are no Sherlock Holmes and Watson they are not even two Watsons, instead they are just Wilson and Phillips.

It is the hottest day of summer, says the radio-alarm that springs into life waking up Alex Wilson. He looks at the blurry red numbers on the screen while his hand searches for his glasses and soon the numbers become distinct.

Alex Wilson is a neat man and often mocked by his partner for his obsession with tidiness and cleanliness, telling him to toughen up or that the world is a dirt-filled place. He would protest such vile accusations if they were untrue but looking at his little apartment where everything - He turned the flower pot to the left - Yes, everything had its rightful place creating the perfect symmetry, he smiled.

Humming along with a song playing on the radio Alex went on about his morning routine that could be described with one word, perfection. The perfect round eggs, along with the perfectly crispy bacon and the perfect steamy coffee, in the right position and order, waited for him on the round table.

He wore dark brown trousers, a creamy-white shirt and a light brown jacket on top, his slim tie rested in a straight line. He brushed his perfectly trimmed moustache and gave himself a big smile in the full-size mirror, never forgetting to check for smudges on it before checking himself out.

The jacket really flattered his dark complexion but still gave him a serious and professional look. He sighed knowing that it would not last. The outside world cared nothing for symmetry or cleanliness. The same thought crossed his mind as he was about to leave.

He gave his apartment of pure perfection a last glance knowing that where he was about to go and the people he was about to meet was the exact opposite of his world.

Really George, you could fry an egg on the street! It is the hottest day of the summer!, went the radio-alarm that had been on for quite some time.

It sure is Simon, said the old woman called Patricia Phillips. She was in her nightgown walking around her living room and watering plants of all kinds.

It was a lovely little place with three big bookcases filled with all sorts of books most of which had peculiar names like, Psychopaths Now, Knowing the Mind of a Criminal, The Cannibals Among Us, Women Can Kill Too, and many more. They were the kind of books that someone would find strange to be owned by an old woman that wore flowery gowns. Perhaps the only normal books she had was a rare collection of all the Sherlock Holmes books.

Patricia would always pass by her great bookcases and would stop and stare at the golden writing on the rare collection, as she did now.

She suddenly smiled and looked down.

Hello Lily, she said looking at the white cat that was rubbing herself against her leg, sneaking again from Mr. Lloyd, are you?, she grabbed the cat gently and went outside. She crossed the little garden that was dry and almost dead looking, because of
