Author

Lucia Kuhl

Lucia Kuhl is the author of nine fun but slightly gritty paranormal cozy murder mysteries. She believes every story needs at least one ghost, maybe a witch, or possibly an angel. A pet is always good. Talking forest animals are even better.  Oh, and a hint of romance while strong opinionated characters mingle. A few of her heroines carry guns. While some only need magic. And her characters never miss a chance to dance. Lucia enjoys exploring tough subjects and lighting them in humorous ways to lessen the sting while showcasing their root issues. You can connect with Lucia on Facebook and Twitter. She's on Instagram too, but frankly, not very good at it.  If you like pictures of animals and ballroom dance gowns, or words of wisdom for small business owners check out her boards on Pinterest. Ghost Witch P.I. - Lucia Kuhl

    THE VILLAGE OF MOON LAKE

Moon Lake is a busy little village. Sometimes it can be a bit hard to keep the villagers straight. Click here for background on the village and a list of town’s people.

    Sunday, 1:00 am.

Acool lake breeze blew death through the opened windows of the Moon Lake Methodist Fellowship Hall. It was Mid-July. Usually, air conditioning would be the oxygen of choice, but tonight, the scent of new-mown hay mixed with Stargazer Lilies wafted through the screens. The temperature perfect for fresh country air and sleeveless party dresses. Lemonade of all flavors, colors, and alcohol contents decorated punch bowls throughout the room. As did the latest pet fashions. Photographs—both professional and amateur—portraying pets and wildlife striking peculiar poses dotted the room. Tonight, the Community of Moon Lake as well as much of the southern half of St. Joseph County, Indiana celebrated unconditional love and raised money for The Animals Build Character Fund and The Emergency Wildlife Fund.

Animals Build Character or The ABC Fund believed every person needed a pet. For those who couldn't afford food and veterinary bills, ABC stepped up to provide both, and did so in a gracious and face-saving manner.  The Emergency Wildlife Fund provided veterinary care for wounded and sick wild animals. Beavers, raccoons, foxes, turtles, squirrels, and birds had all benefited from the fund.

Twice a year the area’s most devoted animal lovers came together, pulled out their checkbooks, and supported animals and families with loving companions.

Ninety-year-old Lois Collins drove her scooter to the microphone. Before you all head home, one last time I would like to thank everyone for coming. A special thank you to Lizzie Baxter, owner of RunWay Ready Dog Groomers, for pampering our pooches and preparing them for their photo shoots. The audience clapped. A huge thank you to Dr. Lynne Bitner for giving each of our animal models a thorough exam. The audience clapped again.

All except for Police Officer Andy Sacks. He hadn’t clapped for either woman. It was well known both women had turned down his advances publicly. Of course, if he hadn’t made public advances he wouldn’t have been rebuked publicly. But Andy didn’t seem to understand that concept.

Also a big thank you to Carrie Caser, owner of Carrie’s of Moon Lake, for the beautiful decorations. Applause ringed the room. And to my great niece, Sydney Hovan, owner of Moon Lake Dance, for her work as our Master of Ceremonies. Sydney curtseyed to the applause.
