About this ebook

“Why did you choose this life, Johnnie? What is so special about it?”
My motorcycle club. My family. Or, is it? It sure is the closest thing I have to a family. We are like brothers; we love each other a lot and would do anything to protect each other and what we have. That’s why me and Sean joined the “Brothers of Fire” in the first place. We saw something we liked; something that neither of us had: A close bond.

Life as a member is great. We party all the time, we get lots of women and we answer to no one. Cops? We don’t worry about them; they’re on our payroll.

One night, Sean gets hurt. His life hangs by a thread; I have to find help, ASAP. I stop at the first house that I come across. Susan lets us both in. I’ve never opened up to anyone before. Should I do the same with her?

    Chapter One

nder the influence of the bright light, Johnnie could not make out the identity of the stranger. However, when the man in question stepped in front of the spotlight, his bruised face left him no doubt: It was Don Davis, looking very angry indeed.

Oh, my God… Susan whispered, her voice full of terror. Johnnie’s initial thought was to step on the gas and run him over; if he was alone, he would have done exactly that. However, should he do such a thing, he would jeopardize his life and Susan’s alike.

Do as he says. He urged, putting his hand on the door handle. Susan opened her door with fear-clumsy fingers. Johnnie would not show it, but, by that moment, he was fuming with rage. It seemed to him that a simple beating was not enough to deter her ex boyfriend. He was not afraid of Davis; he had been held at gun point before. In his mind, Don was only trying to intimidate him. After all, he was a man of the law and men of the law don’t execute civilians in cold blood.

Get on your knees! Davis commanded. Put your hands behind your head!

Johnnie had no choice but to comply. Susan did the same, but, just as she did, Davis added:

Not you, Suzy! Get over here!

She stood up and did as told. The smirk on Davis’ face made Johnnie’s blood boil in his veins.

Hey! He cried. Why don’t you put the gun down? Let’s settle this like men!

I don’t think so. Davis shook his head sideways lightly, taking a few lazy steps towards him. You don’t look so tough now, do you?

"Put the gun down and I’ll show you. Again. Johnnie snarled. Come on!"

Shut up! Davis yelled, stopping just a few feet across from him. Now, I’m willing to bet that she didn’t tell you anything about me. Did you, Susan? He asked, looking down at her over his left shoulder. His question was met with silence; Susan forced her gaze away from him, as her mouth tightened. That’s what I thought. I’m pretty sure she hasn’t told you anything about her activities in Cleveland, either. Don’s somewhat high-pitched voice was dripping with sarcasm. Should Johnnie have heard those words coming out of someone else’s mouth, he would get suspicious, but the federal agent was not to be trusted.

What do you want, you little prick? He grumbled, drawing his attention. "And how the hell did you find us?"

Today’s cell phones are pure magic. Davis said. "Through the GPS on her phone. First of all, I want her to tell you everything that she’s been keeping from you. You see, she’s not just a doctor. Then, I’m going to kill you both. Come on, Suzy! He urged, returning his gaze to her. Tell him! Tell him who you are! Tell him what you’ve done!"

Johnnie did not pay attention to his words this time, either. He preferred to gauge her reaction. Still, it was not what
