Chapter One

You think you can get out of bed with me and go into the arms of another man. Look, I told you the last time we were together, that I no longer wanted to be in a relationship with you. Lisa argued, I don’t deny I enjoy having sex with you, but you are not the type of man I want to spend my life with. What type of man do you want to spend it with? he continued without waiting for an answer, No, let me guess, a rich one. It doesn’t hurt, Joshua’s going to be here in a half hour, you have to leave and make sure Mrs. Bilwalden doesn’t see you. I don’t want him to know you were here I don’t care about your ancient nosy neighbor or Joshua Matterson. I’m leaving, only because I have to go to work. I assure you, we will finish this conversation later! Don’t come back! Lisa yelled We’re through! Considered the sex a good bye gift! Joshua Matterson is not only richer than you, he’s better than you! You are nothing but a whore. he screamed as he pushed her into the wall and pinned her there. Get it into your head! You will never be though with me! I will be back later!

Lisa Smith knew she was beautiful with her raven black hair, violet eyes, slim build, and long legs. People often mistook her for a model instead of a business executive. Her intelligence and hard work was finally paying off. She had been promoted and given a corner office. Although, she was savvy in the business world, when it came to men her IQ seen to plummet. Until Joshua, the men she usually dated were good looking, but overbearing, extremely possessive, and often, mentally and physically abusive. After dating Joshua for a while, Lisa realized that a man could treat a woman kindly and with respect. She dumped Tony Broden when he hit her one too many times. Joshua thought they were exclusive. She was going to make it so. Any other relationships she had were over.

Joshua was about to rang the door bell. when Lisa's neighbor came out of her apartment. The women like to talk. It took several minutes before Joshua was able to politely excuse himself from the conversation. As Lisa went to answered the bell she thought if things worked out, she could become Mrs. Joshua Matterson. Yes, Lisa thought before answering her doorbell, Joshua is a good and decent man. He, also, was six feet two inches tall. He had dark auburn hair, and the most amazing grey eyes. While he was well built, he wasn’t overly muscular and to top it all off, he was rich and fantastic in bed. No more dealing with assholes. She opened the door with a smile on her face.

Joshua wanted Lisa to enjoy tonight. He knew she was not thrilled about going to the charity action the next night where he would be the main speakers. For some reason she did not think his friend and business partner, Julia O’Connor liked her and she did not relish the idea of sharing a table with Julia and his other business partner, Julia's brother Matt. They walked around the corner of her apartment building to Chang’s Chinese Restaurant. Since they had started dating they had become regulars at the restaurant. Mr. Chang, a man of few words always greeted them, Table ready, come. The restaurant was Lisa's favorite.

Did you decide what you wanted to do after dinner? Joshua asked her, We still could go to the concert if you want. Lisa picking at her meal said, Why don’t we take off for the weekend? Joshua, surprised by the request, reminded Lisa about the charity auction. Couldn’t Matt or Julia make your speech for you? Matt and Julia O’Connor would do almost anything for him, but he was not going to ask either of them to do something he had committed to do and was his responsibility. I can’t leave, I made a promise and I intend to keep it. Oh, Joshua, don’t you ever do anything spontaneous? Lisa said in a huff. By this time, Joshua was getting irritated at what seem like her lack of concern for others. Don’t you think it’s a little selfish to want me to go off with you and forget about an event that will raise money for a very good cause? Realizing she should have put a little more thought into the way she approached the subject of a weekend away, she decided to drop the subject for the moment. Noticing she was picking at her food again, he asked, Don’t you like your food? It’s delicious, perhaps we could get the rest of the food to go and go back to my apartment for a more intimate evening. . Mr. Chang, Joshua called, could we get the rest of this to go? Lisa wanted time to convince Joshua to skip the auction and take her away. She hoped good sex would loosen him up.

What are you doing? Joshua asked, while raining kiss after kiss on her neck. Trying to unlock my door and looking for Mrs. Bilwalden. Are you worried that she will see me going into your apartment at this time of night? You don't have to be concerned, she went to a bingo at her church. Joshua said, peppering Lisa with kisses between each word. It’s only ten thirty; I can’t get the door unlocked with you doing that. How do you know that Mrs. Bilwalden went to the church bingo?
