CHAPTER ONE

There is a tremendous thrust toward global and spiritual unity among society today. On the surface, unity appears to be a commendable idea. However, many Bible scholars, along with a remnant of true born again Christians, see this plan as much more than a simple attempt to unite spiritually. Exactly what do these Christians perceive in their mind’s eye that causes a red flag to be raised?

A large portion of society views this group of fundamentalist Christians as divisive and intolerant. They are seen as unwilling to conform to spiritual unity and even called a cancer that must be eliminated.¹ Is this remnant of people standing in the way of global unity? Would unity finally be achieved if these people would give in or simply disappear?

It must stir a person to wonder why men and woman were willing to sacrifice their very lives rather than conform to some of the religious and political structures that have historically attempted to dominate society. Should we now give up what others were willing to die for?

The surprising truth is that unity may result in a loss of freedom on a political and a spiritual level. However, the powerful people in control would never advertise this fact. Instead, unity is looked upon as a utopic fairytale world where everyone’s needs are met to their ultimate satisfaction. Often times, society is led to believe that the government will actually take care of them from the cradle to the grave and with very little self-effort of their own. Those who believe in this form of freedom are actually living in their own prison. It is a hard cycle to break because these individuals have become so accustomed to this lifestyle, that they have no problem with taking the government handouts, and have no shame in the fact that they have done nothing to earn these amenities.

Would you believe that it is possible to live in a utopic world and that a perfect society will eventually come to pass? But it is not through the Age of Aquarius, as the New Agers promise; or the coming together of all nations and religions, which has been the focus of many political and spiritual leaders; or even the moral evolution of mankind which is being promoted in the Seeker Sensitive churches of today. The Bible speaks of this perfect era. It begins with the Millennial Reign of Jesus Christ and will come to its perfect fulfillment in the Kingdom Age. But more on this exciting information later!

This book will address where the idea of spiritual unity really began; who was responsible for it; and who is spearheading the comeback today. I pray the reader will be able to see that while God encourages us to have unity within the Body of Christ, His Church, He does not promote or encourage the type of spiritual unity that is being propagated today among individuals and religions that do not even believe His Word, the Holy Bible, or in the once and for all sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ.

I suppose it is blatantly obvious that the bait being referenced in this book title refers to unity, and more specifically, spiritual unity. If unity is being dangled as the bait to lure in an individual, we have to wonder exactly who is holding this bait. And if he is proven to be the antithesis of God, then the bait would be tainted and not worthy of taking. Right?

The cover art depicts an apple with the word, Unity scratched into it. The apple has always been a symbol of the forbidden fruit that Satan used in the Garden of Eden to tempt Adam and Eve, causing the Fall of Man. What does that forbidden fruit have to do with mankind today? Well, with the help of the Holy Spirit, let us dive into some biblical and historical facts that will answer the many questions which have been posed in this introduction.

CHAPTER TWO

From all accounts, unifying together for a common good is admirable and beneficial to society. For example, when people join together after a natural disaster to aid the victims or when a community unites to fight neighborhood crime. There are many instances where banding together has tremendous benefits.

As already stated, the type of unity this book is dissecting is spiritual unity. We will also be taking a good hard look at the push for global unity or a New World Order, as the phrase has been coined. It is impossible to ignore the creation of a New World Order seeing that the two facets of spiritual and political unity go hand in hand. In order for world government to succeed, there has to be a cohesive union of all religions and faiths.

Christopher Dawson’s 1960 book, Progress and Religion stated:

It is the religious impulse which supplies the cohesive force which unifies a society and a culture. The great civilizations of the world do not produce the great religions as a kind of cultural byproduct; in a very real sense, the great religions are the foundations on which the great civilizations rest (my italics).²

At a 1993 interfaith conference in India, the Executive Secretary of the National Spiritual Assembly of the Baha’is in India stated:

The New World Order, as one can perceive, will need a world religion. It will seek a new orientation, a new conception of morals, applicable not only to the individual, but also to society as a whole.³

In the words of Brock Chisholm, the director of the United Nations World Health Organization from 1948-1953:

To achieve world government, it is necessary to remove from the minds of men their individualism, loyalty to family traditions, national patriotism and religious dogmas.⁴

These are only a few of the quotes showing that interfaith harmony is top priority in order to achieve a one world government. How could we adequately define a New World Order? Author, P.D. Stuart gives a perfect definition when he writes:

The term New World Order (NWO) was first brought into the public consciousness in 1991, by President George Bush Sr. in a speech he gave before a joint session of Congress. Put simply, the New World Order is organized ‘Internationalism’- ‘an interlocking financial, political, and economic world force for the purpose of establishing a World Government involving the conversion of the United Nations and its agencies, complete with a world army, a world parliament, a world court, global taxation.⁵

P.D. Stuart is specifically speaking of the state of the union address given by George H.W. Bush in 1991, when he stated:

It is a big idea: a New World Order, where diverse nations are drawn together in a common cause to achieve the universal aspirations of mankind: peace and security, freedom and the rule of law.⁶

I freely admit that a decade ago, before I became a born again Christian, I would have believed that a New World Order and spiritual unity sounded absolutely brilliant. Daily, we all witness the chaotic state of the world and the multitude of wars raging at any given moment. We see the precious lives lost and war-torn landscapes being demolished by missiles and bombs. It is incredibly disheartening to say the least. What changed my perspective, you may wonder?

After I was saved, I began to read the Bible and study eschatology, the study of the end times. I was enthralled with Bible prophecy as I began to see that everything in the Old Testament portion of the Bible predicted when and how Jesus Christ would come into this world and precisely why and what He was sent to accomplish. It amazed me that God would give over three hundred prophecies to prepare His chosen people, the Jews, for the coming Messiah. God promised that this Messiah would take the sin penalty of mankind upon Himself on the Cross.

In His foreknowledge, God prepared for the rejection of the Redeemer by the Jews when He implemented the sacrificial system to the Israelites fifteen hundred years before Jesus would even be born. This, in short, consisted of the sinner bringing an animal sacrifice, perfect and without blemish (representing the sinless perfection of Jesus Christ), to the Tabernacle of the Congregation as a sin offering. There, the sin of the individual was transferred to the innocent animal and it was then sacrificed to cover the person’s sin. Often times the animal used was a lamb and this is why John the Baptist said, "Behold, the Lamb of God, which takes away the sin of the world (John 1:29)" when he saw Jesus approaching him.

But there were even more revelations in reading the New Testament as I began to understand how Jesus’ sacrifice on the Cross was a once and for all finished work which never needs repeating. I also realized that His sacrifice was for whosoever would believe by faith for their eternal salvation.

The reader must understand that I grew up in the Roman Catholic Church, baptized at a mere ten days old. I had always tried to work for my salvation by going to church and doing good works. I went through this cycle for thirty-two years, but it never gave me any assurance of my salvation. When I finally realized that salvation is based upon simple faith in what Jesus already did on the Cross to save us from sin, I was presented with a crossroad of decision. So, in 2005, after much prayer, I ultimately decided to walk away from my religion for good. I traded dry, dead religion for a relationship with Jesus Christ and that has, by far, been the most important and life-changing decision of my life!

You see, the blood of Jesus Christ is the only way to get to God the Father, who resides in Heaven. Jesus said in John 14:6, …I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes unto the Father, but by Me. In John 10:1 Jesus says, "Verily, Verily, I say unto you, He who enters by the door into the sheepfold, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. But he who enters in by the Door (Jesus is the Door- John 10:7) is the shepherd of the sheep." And Acts 4:12 says, Neither is there salvation in any other for there is none other name under Heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Isn’t it plain to see from the above Scriptures that Jesus is the one and only way?

So, as a new believer in Jesus, I began to read and absorb these passages in the Word of God and finally understood without fear of contradiction that Heaven can only be attained by a person placing their faith in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. In contrast, I had been instructed in my thirty-two years of Roman Catholicism and thirteen years of Roman Catholic School that my only chance for Heaven was in my own performance of good works, church attendance, completion of the Roman Catholic sacraments and especially the weekly eating of the Eucharist, the wafer of bread which is magically consecrated into Jesus’ real flesh and divinity, according to the Roman Catholic Church.

One major deception of Satan is to take the focus off the source of redemption and victory, which is Jesus Christ alone, and put it on religious works, which can make us feel as if we have earned something from God. But God does not want us to do anything to earn salvation. He simply wants us to accept and rest in what Jesus already accomplished on the Cross. The truth is that religion has been used to create a false sense of eternal security with God, making it impossible for the true Christian to join together in unity.

What does the Bible tell us about unity? The King James Version Bible uses the word unity in only three passages. One example is in Ephesians 4:13-14, where it speaks of true God-ordained unity by stating, Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive. The only way the unity of the faith can be attained is through the knowledge of the Son of God. And Paul warns us not to be tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine so that we will not be deceived by devious men whose intended goal is to mislead us.

This is important because many of the world’s religious leaders of today are joining together in the name of peace and unity with religions that do not even believe or teach that Jesus is the Son of God who came in the flesh to save mankind from sin. 1 John 2:22 warns us of people of this stripe when it says, Who is a liar but he that denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist that denies the Father and the Son. It also states in 1 John 4:3, … every spirit that confesses not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is the spirit of antichrist… Did you catch that? Antichrist!

Can true born again believers join together in the unity of the faith with religious leaders who do not even believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who came in the flesh to save us? The answer is emphatically, NO! Many religions and belief systems fall into this category. Some examples include Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Jehovah’s Witness, Mormons, and Satanists among others. But many religious leaders today, such as Pope Francis of the Roman Catholic Church, are pushing unity and peace within every faith and many evangelical leaders are joining together with him. They even go as far as heralding Pope Francis for his accomplishments toward the revival of the spirit of the Tower of Babel. Later, this book will expose specific names of some of these individuals, because it is important to know who is a part of this deception in order to avoid their teachings and influence.

This plan of spiritual unity has carefully been crafted by Satan and the men of this world whom he uses to accomplish his goals. It is imperative one understands that this push for unity and religious tolerance is simply a front to deceive the people of this world into accepting a singular global leader who will rule a one world government, or the New World Order, which is presently being established. This individual leading the one world government is prophesied in the Bible to be the beast or the Antichrist.

Let us look at how the Book of Revelation describes the future Antichrist. Beginning in Revelation 13:1-2, it states, And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his head the name of blasphemy. And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority. Right away we see in verse 2 that the Antichrist receives his power from the dragon, which is Satan.

Picking up in verses 4 through 8, it states, And they worshiped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshiped the beast, saying, who is like unto the beast? Who is able to make war with him? And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name, and His tabernacle, and them that dwell in Heaven. And it was given unto him to make war with the Saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. In verse 7, it reveals that the Antichrist will be given power over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. The Antichrist will be the global dictator of the world and he will be calling the shots.

Remember, the Antichrist will be endued with satanic powers which he will use to persuade the people of the world that he is their messiah (Revelation 13:2). As a matter of fact, the Jews, who rejected Jesus as Saviour, will accept this man as their long-awaited messiah. In John 5:43, Jesus states, I am come in My Father’s Name, and you receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him you will receive.

As already stated, along with the one world government, a universal religion will also be established. It will be under the guidance of a man whom the Bible refers to as the false prophet. Revelation 13:11-12 states concerning the False Prophet, "And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spoke as a dragon. And he exercised all the power of the first beast (Antichrist) before him, and causes the people of the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast …" This passage of Scripture reveals that the False Prophet will cause the people of the world to worship the Antichrist. Then, the very next verse shows that the False Prophet will perform many signs and wonders and will cause the deceived people of the world to take the the mark of the Beast, where they will not be able to buy or sell without this mark (Revelation 13:12-18).

The Scripture verse also describes the False Prophet’s demeanor when it states that he has two horns like a lamb meaning that this individual will appear to be gentle and meek. But it also says that he spoke as a dragon denoting the evil he truly personifies. This man will be charismatic, just like the Antichrist, and will have a massive following.

Watch just how the Antichrist and the False Prophet work their magic (sometimes literally) to amass their cult-like following. In Daniel 7:8, we are introduced to the little horn, which any Bible scholar will tell you is symbolic of the Antichrist. It says that in this horn were the eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things. The word horn is symbolic of authority and power. It states in Daniel 8:25, "And through his policy also shall cause craft (witchcraft/ magic) to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes (Jesus Christ); but he shall be broken without hand (my italics and notes in parentheses)."

Then in Daniel 11:21, it states, And in his estate shall stand up a vile person, to whom they shall not give honour of the kingdom: but he shall come in peaceably, and obtain the kingdom by flatteries. This is precisely how the Antichrist will become the one world leader; by coming in peaceably and obtaining the kingdoms of the world by flatteries. Are the phrases peace and unity taking on a new light now?

So, let us take a look at the chapter title, Unity… Is it too Good to be True? and attempt to answer the question presented. After reading the Scriptures concerning the satanically empowered Antichrist with his proposed global government, along with the False Prophet’s one world religious system, I would think it would be enough to convince anyone that this plan of unity is not of God, but is instead a deception of the enemy. Unfortunately, not everyone believes in the credibility of the Bible. Those who are presenting these warnings and holding fast to the Word of God will be mocked and taunted; degraded and discredited.

Satan’s emissaries have even gone so far as to change the Bible to suit their design. While this has done great damage to true Christianity, a small remnant of true believers whose eyes are open to the deception still remain.

In order for Satan to gain this much ground, it was imperative that changes were made not only to the Bible, but to pure and true Christianity. Later, we will see how thousands of years of killing Christians did not produce the expected outcome, causing Satan to return to the drawing board and incite a new plan of attack. It has been much more subtle, and unfortunately has pulled many people away from a true relationship with God, as well as, caused countless others to never feel the Holy Spirit conviction drawing them to repent and receive Jesus’ free gift of salvation.

Rapid changes have swept across the world. Those who have been around long enough to witness these changes are scratching their heads at the mockery which has been made of Christianity. When they speak up, they are called intolerant, judgmental and labeled as resisters.⁷

This is all a part of Satan’s master plan because as Mark 3: 25 states, …if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand. Satan needs to weaken the bond of humanity in order to control mankind. When did his power trip really begin and how has he managed to drag so many individuals into his deceptive kingdom of darkness?

CHAPTER THREE

All around us there is an unseen world which our eyes cannot see, our ears cannot hear and our hands cannot touch. Within this other world, there is a battle raging between good and evil; light and darkness; God’s angels and Lucifer’s fallen angels. Eternity past was not always in this condition, but pride and greed caused the archangel Lucifer to become the enemy of God. When God expelled Lucifer from Heaven, he did not walk away alone. He managed to rally one third of the heavenly hosts to join him in his divisive rebellion. Since that time, he has worked diligently to destroy the Kingdom of God and His promises to mankind.

The attacks and temptations of Satan come from many sources. One of his favorites is the temptation of idols, which can manifest in the form of religion and religious ceremonies. Some see the word idol and think of an inanimate statue, but idols can also be anything that we put before our relationship with God. For example, Satan will dangle work, play, relationships and even our own self-gratification in front of us and we, in turn, will begin to put these things before our relationship with the Lord. Matthew 6:33 says, But seek you first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all of these things shall be added unto you.

This is very dangerous because eventually the person will begin to become apathetic toward the things of God as the love for that idol grows. Sadly, some even walk away from the Lord and pursue their own selfish goals. The Bible warns us about being a lukewarm believer and the sad reality is that Jesus warned He would "spew you out of my mouth (Revelation 3:15-16)."

Another temptation which comes from Satan is the sin of fornication, which can best be defined as sexual intercourse between two unmarried people. This is so unbelievably rampant today, mostly because it has flooded our television programming and even our schools. It is rare to find a scripted television program or reality show that does not promote premarital sex, adultery and homosexuality. The idea is to introduce these sexual deviances and make them look normal to society. This has actually been done intentionally for the breakdown of a healthy society in order to bring them into the one world religious system which Satan is constructing.

But, I would have to say, Satan’s most deceiving attack comes by denying the fact that the sacrifice of Jesus Christ can redeem fallen man. Satan can deceive many into believing that performing religious duties, good works and going to church will evolve them into better moral human beings, without ever accepting that they were born into sin and are in need of salvation. Doing good works makes people feel euphoric which gives them a false sense of security that they are in right relationship with God. But God does not ask for our good works; He asks for faith in His Son, Jesus, whom He sent to redeem mankind. Let’s dig into eternity past and see how Lucifer, or Satan as he is known, came to power and became "the prince of this world (John 12:31, 14:30, 16:11, etc.)."

Lucifer fell from his high position in Heaven when iniquity was found in him (Ezekiel 28:15). Speaking of Lucifer, Isaiah 14:11-14 states, Your pomp is brought down to the grave, and the noise of your viols, the worm is spread under you, and the worms cover you. How art thou fallen from Heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How art thou cut down to the ground, which did weaken the nations! For you have said in your heart, I will ascend into Heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the Most High.

Ezekiel 28:12 describes Lucifer when it states, …You seal up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect beauty. But later in the same chapter it becomes apparent that this wisdom and beauty were the very reasons Lucifer revolted in the first place. Ezekiel 28: 15, 17 reveals, You were perfect in your ways from the day that you were created, till iniquity was found in you… Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty, you have corrupted your wisdom by reason of your brightness…

The name Lucifer in the Hebrew language means the bright and shining one or light bearer. These attributes and his exalted position caused him to be vain and full of pride. As a result, he sought to exalt his own throne above God’s throne. Lucifer then led a revolt and became the first apostate. He used his great wisdom to deceive the angels, who were under his dominion, into following him into rebellion against God. With the revolution of Lucifer, the spirit world was divided into two opposing forces.

According to Ezekiel 28:18, Satan and his fallen angels hold certain territories in Heaven from which they wage war against the Kingdom of God here on Earth. There is only one power in Heaven and in Earth that can overcome these evil principalities and powers of Satan, and that is the power of the blood of Jesus Christ. Colossians 2:14-15 states, Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to His Cross. And having spoiled principalities and powers He made a show of them openly triumphing over them in it.

The Luciferian philosophy most prevalent today dates all of the way back to the lie in the Garden of Eden. It was in this very place where Lucifer came in the form of a serpent and used deception to convince Eve, who in turn, persuaded Adam to eat of the forbidden fruit causing mankind to fall from God’s grace. The Bible describes Lucifer, or Satan, in Genesis 3:1 saying, "Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field… (my italics)." It was his subtlety which gained Satan dominion over mankind from that point forward becoming the prince of this world.

Genesis 1:27 shows how God created mankind perfect, in His own image, and to be His companions. God had even created the human body to live on forever. But, when Adam disobeyed God and ate of the fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, it changed everything. Not only was mankind separated from God because of Adam’s sin, but it also brought sin and death into God’s perfect world. Romans 6:23 says, For the wages of sin is death … So, it is actually Satan, the subtle serpent, who is responsible for sin, sickness and death entering this world.

God had specific instructions for Adam to eat from any tree in the Garden of Eden, except from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.
