Allen B. Grose IV

I'm Allen Grose. I decided writing stories and having them published when I wrote my first book for my oldest daughter. She asked and received. After completing Journee's Journey, I started working on my second book Second Chance Around. It is a fast paced read that has my readers coming back for more. I believe in communicating with my readers and they can do so on my Facebook page, which you can find the link on my profile here on Smashwords. When I'm not writing I'm spending time with my family. I like to travel and relax. I've lived a life where I didn't see me being at this stage that I am at now. I'm proud to say that I'm a published author and see myself progressing along this newfound journey in my life.

    Chapter One

Kevin rolled over stretching in his sweat soaked sheets, as he did every morning for the last two years. This dream was just as so many others. Kevin spotted Nikki off in the distance calling out in her soft voice, waving with her huge smile in place. Where you been baby? Kevin asked feeling a rush of relief pulsating through his body as he ran with all his might to reach his wife's side. Kev you're so crazy, I've been right here the whole time. Nikki responded watching as Kevin's breathing became harder as he fought to run to her. What's going on? Kevin asked after finally realizing he was unable to reach her no matter how fast he ran. Baby it's okay, you can stop running. Nikki replied, now with a sad, but firm look on her face. No Nik, I'm almost there! Kevin yelled as his legs began tightening up from the force he placed on them in his determined state to reach her side. Kevin you have to move on, go live your life and love our boys. Please. I know you love me, but I'm gone with no way of coming back. Please let go, and live your life. Nikki finished before fading further from his reach.

Kevin woke up every morning with the same empty space in his soul longing for the warmth and feel of his wife's body. Two years passed since he was forced to lay his wife to rest. The dreams never seemed to fade and his love refused to dim for his high school sweetheart and the mother of his two sons. Standing to his feet, Kevin ended his pity party which he only allowed himself 15 minutes a morning knowing there was breakfast to cook, lunch to pack, and two boys to get on the bus all before his own day started. Before Nikki fell ill, Kevin never fully knew or understood the day-to-day struggles of the stay at home parent. Come on y'all, it's that time fellas. Kevin said waking the boys up. Dad! Both boys yelled, pulling their pillows over their eyes to block the light that was now filling the room. Come on now, y'all need to get a move on! You know that bus runs early, and I have zero time for a school drop-off line. Kevin replied shutting the door.

I sure could use a hand. Kevin thought looking up wishing Nikki was still alive to fill the house with her special sense of love and comfort, plus a helping hand would be nice. At one time Kevin would still be deep into a dream with no knowledge of Nikki's morning routine as she made her way through the house organizing homework, finding
