    Prologue

Zane sat in front of the control panel and wondered how he got picked for this mission. He was a scientist in a lab not someone that did field work. Still he was sent to check on the status of Rizer Four. No one had been back to the original home planet since its collapse over a millennia ago when the Great Storms had started.

His little ship came out of the worm hole not far from Rizer Four. From the history he had read, and what he observed now, the planet was still covered by the red storms. He quickly scanned the surface and found no signs of life. Now, for the second part of his mission.

Zane turned his ship towards the little blue planet that sat closer to Rizer’s sun. Half of this planet was in darkness while the other half was illuminated. On the dark side he could see thousands of lights on the surface of the planet.

Is it possible? Zane had to go check to see if his instruments were working properly. There were millions of lights scattered all over the blue planet. The sensors picked up signs of life on almost every spot on this planet.

He quickly connected to what looked like communication satellites and ran all information through his systems. Once all known languages had been uploaded in the computer Zane placed a universal translator in his ear. He then turned on the ship’s invisibility and headed towards the surface.

Something in his chest tried to pull him in one direction but Zane ignored it. He was not familiar with this feeling and just figured it was the excitement of exploring what his ancestors may have left behind. If the feeling did not go away then he would run some tests on himself to check for any abnormalities in his system.

Zane landed his ship in an open field near some huge stones. These stones were big and formed a type of circle with some laying on top of others. He quickly recognized the formation from his planet’s history and knew his ancestors had been here. Somehow they had survived. Upon exiting his ship he read a sign that said Stonehenge. Whatever these beings called it he knew exactly what it was. He had found evidence that his ancestors had been here and survived the massive ground shakes. Now all he had to do was observe them and collect more evidence of his people’s survival. Their once glorious colony had been taken by water that left nothing for anyone to find.

But seeing this portal gave him hope that there would be others and his people could find the answers to what had happened to the scientists that had disappeared a millennia ago. He only had limited information from before they had gone but he hoped it would be enough. This planet was small and should not be hard to find more evidence that his people had survived somehow.

    Chapter One

Yoo hoo, Evie. I’m coming for you. Evie shook her head at the silly sing song voice of her friend Katie. Evie, you can’t hide forever.

I’m not hiding Katie, Evie called out. I’m in the back finishing up the Marshal wedding and reception. Evie finished wrapping the ribbon around the last bridesmaid bouquet as Katie popped her head around the corner.

I still can’t believe you got Tammy Johnson’s wedding order. I mean she’s getting married in Indianapolis for shit’s sake. That’s two hours away. Katie strolled around the back room inhaling deeply of the assortment of flowers scattered around.

Tammy insisted I do them. We were friends in high school after all. Her future mother in-law wasn’t very happy until I gave her my price that was a few hundred dollars less than what she was quoted in Indy. Besides, Josh is delivering them not me. Evie placed the bouquet in the box with the rest and closed the lid. Can you help me load these boxes in the back of the cooler please?

They quickly placed all the boxes in the cooler and cleaned up the mess. Evie sighed to herself at the thought of her own wedding. That was something that would probably never happen. She was short and fat. She was barely over five feet tall and
