    Chapter One

Torrin landed his ship in a field just outside the small town that Evie had given him to find her friend Katie. He already had secretly delivered the messages to some of Earth’s leaders. Now all he had to do was visit this Katie and deliver one last message before heading home.

The sensation in his chest had increased the closer he got to his destination. He kept himself visible as he walked into the town so as not to scare anyone by suddenly appearing out of thin air by releasing the invisibility shield.

He glanced down at the directions listed on his wrist communicator and found the house easily. Torrin hesitated on the steps before the front door. The pulling in his chest was worse now than it had been. Was this what Zane had felt when he found Evie? Could this Katie be his heart-soul? He had to at least deliver the message and possibly answer any questions she may have.

Torrin looked at the pale blue dwelling with a covered porch that wrapped around the side. It had some kind of long seat suspended from the roof with a small table close by it. There were a variety of flowers alongside the home in different shades of color. It looked like a small part of the goddess’ garden was right in front of him. He could see light spilling from the inside and someone walking around. Katie had to be home.

He walked up the steps and knocked on the door. He could hear someone moving around and come towards the door.

Who is it? the person called from behind the door without opening it. Torrin knew if he answered she would not be able to understand him. Not until he gave her the translator. He knocked again.

Dammit, I said who’s there. If you’re another reporter you can just leave now. Suddenly the door was jerked open and golden vision stood before him staring at his chest. Her eyes slowly worked their way up to look at his face. Who are you?

Torrin reached into his pocket and pulled out a few pieces of paper. He handed one to the female in front of him. Are you Katie Evans?

Yes, I’m Katie. Who are you? He handed her another paper.

My name is Torrin. I have come with information on Yvonne Phillips.

Torrin watched as sadness crept into her eyes and began to fill with tears. She shook her head violently as she spoke.

Evie is gone. She disappeared over a year ago. Whatever information you have you’re better off going to the police. But Evie is dead and not coming back. She started to shut the door but he stopped her and handed her another paper.

She is alive and well taken care of. I have a message from her for you. Another paper. This is a universal translator. Put it around your ear so you may understand me. Torrin handed Katie the small device.

She’s alive? Torrin nodded. Truly alive? Oh my God. Where is she? Why did she leave? Why hasn’t she called? Katie grabbed his arm and pulled him into the house shutting the door behind them.

Torrin again handed the translator to Katie. She cautiously took the device and looked at Torrin. He pulled his hair back and showed her how it was placed on his ear. He watched as she put it on the looked at him again.

You can understand me now? he asked.

Wow, I feel like that cell phone commercial. ‘Can you hear me now?’ She gave a small laugh.

Of course, I can hear you. Torrin wasn’t sure why she would ask such a question. But he did know that Earth people did not have such advanced technology as Eden.

That’s not what I meant. Never mind. You have a message for me? Where’s Evie? Why hasn’t she contacted me if she’s okay? And who are you exactly?

The strange man that showed up at her door was probably the sexiest man she had ever seen in her life. Katie was a little nervous when she opened the door to see this massive man standing there. She almost shut the door immediately but something told her he was not a threat. He was easily seven feet tall with broad shoulders like a football linebacker. His hair was pure white with a few streaks of light blue throughout. His eyes were such a piercing ice blue they were almost white.

    At only five foot
