Living only in the most remote regions of the world, dragons were populous within the bounds of the Devares mountains. Few travellers went there anymore, yet the sole village in the foothills of the range found itself strangely unharmed by the gigantic winged beasts, living in relative peace with a myth brought to life. At such an altitude, it was no wonder that no one had ever believed garbled tales brought back to civilisation by travellers, yet they had observed the creatures for as many years back as they could remember. It was as it always had been and the villagers could not imagine life to be anything else after such a time.

Serena too knew about the dragons. She knew a lot about the dragons. Too much, some said. To her, however, her meagre knowledge would never be enough.

The young lady, teetering on the cusp of womanhood, moved among the people of her village with a smile and a touch, leaving warmth in the wake of her curvaceous body. She brushed her hair out of her face, letting the blonde strands trail through her fingers, and smiled as she nodded to the town blacksmith, hammering a shoe onto a horse’s bare hoof.
