A Bowl of Herbal Stew

About this ebook
This work of poetry started when when the author was fifteen in 1998. He had been thinking about starting a diary, but the thought of writing everything out in continuous prose didn’t appeal to him then. So he challenged himself to write his thoughts out – in verse.
Out of the 400++ poems he had written, he has selected fifty for publication that he hopes would resonate with a lot of people. Let it be said that this book is his attempt to not let life get in the way, but to fully embrace it.

Life on the Streets
Love
I'm falling in love
As the sun goes down
Down this lonely town
Life
I'm living my life
As the rain falls on me
As the leaves fall from the tree
For no matter what comes
For no matter what goes
Life is the sun
Of all that we know
We've got one life to live
We've got a short time to breathe
It don't have to last forever
Living life on the streets
Hope
I'm swimming in hope
As the winds do blow
On the plants that grow
Words
Set you free like the birds
Flying up so high
Way up in the sky
For no matter what comes
For no matter what goes
Life is the sum
Of all that we know
We've got one life to live
We've got a short time to breathe
It don't have to last forever
Living life on the streets
I know it's hard not to fall apart
When the rain falls on you
But you have a friend who loves you to the end
No matter what you do
Fly
I finally can fly
I know someday I will know
As the river flows
For no matter what comes
For no matter what goes
Life is the sum
Of all that we know
We've got one life to live
We've got a short time to breathe
It don't have to last forever
Living life on the streets
For no matter what comes
For no matter what goes
Life is the sum
Of all that we know
Put an end to your grief
You've got a reason to live
It don't have to last forever
Living life on the streets
It don't have to last forever
Living life on the streets
Theatre of Dreams
And so we stepped onto the stage
A play of hope, joy, misery and rage
As we danced across with graceful curls
We twirled away to the rhythm of the world
The music stopped.
We stepped away from the spotlight
We walked down into the darkest night
Feeling nothing but tears and fears
Never knowing when danger should come near
Rain fell.
We huddled in fear; we shivered away
We started praying for the light of day
We craned our heads up into the sky
Then we slumped to our
