    Stefan Zweig was born in Vienna, Austria in 1881, to an upper-class Jewish family. Very early on, he demonstrated a passion for everything related to art, poetry, literature and theatre. During his studies and his many travels around the world, he developed a profoundly humanistic side as well as an attachment to European culture. He became close to great writers such as Rilke, Emile Verhaeren, Romain Rolland and Jules Romain. He was passionate and terribly sensitive, and so was traumatised by the two world wars. In 1933, his books were publicly burnt in Munich. In 1942, he committed suicide in Brazil,
