A heartwarming comedy about how a pensioner stole the UK’s most famous painting

Just what is a ‘feel-good’ film? The most obvious answer is ‘a film that makes you feel good’, but it goes a little deeper than that. Any cheap comedy can put a smile on your face but for a movie to be truly uplifting it also needs to carry a message of positivity that touches the hearts of its audience. The Duke, a comedy-drama based on the true story of the theft of Francisco de Goya’s portrait of the Duke of Wellington, is just such a film. Incredibly well made and endlessly amusing, The Duke’s tale of a man who just wanted to help people cannot fail to move its audience with its heartwarming message.
