    Conflicted

    Chapter 1

Abbey awoke with a start. She sat up in bed, sweating through her night shirt. She looked around the dark room, saw nothing, and couldn’t remember what awoke her. Was it a nightmare?

Abbey lay back down, noticing the sheets were wet too. She kicked the sheets off her legs, got up, went to the other side of the room and picked up the t-shirt she wore earlier. Abbey stripped off her wet, night shirt, threw it in a pile already on the floor. Pulling the dry t-shirt over her head, she made a mental note to do laundry later.

Walking back to the bed, she got in on the other side, the dry side, laid down and tried going back to sleep.

Slept never came. Abbey thought of her husband. She thought of the time he was last home. She thought of the time length that he had been away, what he had missed. All that time, being alone, wondering if he would even make it back home. Tim had been gone for 17 months and Abbey had missed him almost every day. But after the first year of his deployment, things had gotten easier, she missed him less and less. Her life went on as if she was single. She lived her life as best as she knew how without him.

Tim would sometimes send letters, but Abbey hadn’t received one in over 6 months. And the letters she had received from him were short, full of military jargon, and usually ended with See ya. Recently all of Abbey’s letters had come back Return to Sender.

She worried the first 2 months that something had happened to him, but she soon realized that the military would have let her know by now. Abbey then had to go on with her life, not sit at home writing letters that never got anywhere, or even hoping that a letter would someday come to her.

Abbey laid there missing his touch. When Tim was at home before the military, he was very affectionate and loving. When he came home after Boot Camp, he had changed. He was more distant and kept more to himself than anything else. Abbey yearned for his touch, even just to hold her hand would have given her a small inkling of hope. Now that he had been gone for so long, there was nothing to hold on to. There had been times when she had the opportunity to accept someone else’s touch, but she had chickened out. Marriage meant more to her than that. She loved Tim. They had married straight out of high school. They had been so in love, nothing or no one could have stopped them from being together.

When Tim had enlisted into the Marines, Abbey had been furious. That had just gotten married and this was their time to be in love and be together. Tim didn’t understand why she was so angry. He had a hard time finding a job that would support them, and this had been the answer, in his mind anyways.

Soon it was time for him to go, and that had been it. Two years of marriage and they had been apart for almost all of it.

Abbey brought her hand down from above her head and laid it on her stomach. Her own touch would have to be enough for now. She reached down with her right hand over her abdomen, down into her small patch of soft, hair. She moved her left hand to her breasts and gently flicked her right nipple, which then sent a tingle straight down that made her reach further with her right hand to her clit.

She made gentle circles over her clit, making it a hard nub. In her mind, she saw Tim. He was crawling up the end of the bed towards her. He was naked. His muscled chest and stomach rippled as he came closer. His eyes, the piercing green, grew as he gripped her leg, moving it to the side. His hand moved up her leg, slowly but with determination.

Soon he was in between her legs. His hand gripping her hip pulling her to him, he didn’t say anything in her imagination, and he didn’t need too. Tim’s whole body was over her, he reached out and grabbed both her arms and
