Sahara Sanders

www.saharasanders.com Sahara Sanders is a modern writer of several genres.  She is originally from Europe, perceiving herself a citizen of the world. You will find insightful psychological analyses, informational advice, travel guides, novels, poems—reading material for adults and teens—among her numerous books. Sahara speaks five languages and writes books in three of them. English is not native to her, but it is one of her favorites—that’s why, even having only been self-educated in the language, she reached a high level of fluency and was able to work as an interpreter for many years. She has extensive experience in managing different kinds of businesses. Her interests include: writing, psychology, philosophy, quantum physics, traveling, cultures of the world, gardening, the art of bouquet-making, landscape and interior design, pets, photography, modeling, and other different hobbies that can be used as tools and methods to learn about, express and describe at least some of the wondrous beauty of life for those who were born on this planet.

    The Ever Mysterious Lands

    ––––––––

    The ц45

    ––––––––

Usually, the first association to the immemorial millenniums of Egypt is the Great Pyramid of Giza – one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and, at the same time, the only one of those Seven Wonders still existing.

Exploring the lands where the pyramids are rising proudly (veiled with a cloak of mystery and holding so many secrets, many of which we might never discover), you will meet one of the most fascinating symbols of Egypt: the Sphinx. This mythological creature is guarding the pyramids of Giza where pharaohs, the rulers of Egypt, are buried.

Going further across the history, you will walk the same path ancient Egyptians used to walk, feeling that you are a part of something huge, something great. When you are looking at the relicts they make you wonder about reasons for the rise and fall of one mighty civilization that has not yet ceased to exist - as its people have left so many things behind that will make them immortal, forever present in the history of the world.

Besides from enjoying the path you are taking towards discovering the ways of one of the most cryptic civilizations that ever used to live in this world, you may also like the modern Egypt: its streets, museums, people, and the traditional cuisine.

This country has so much to offer, standing proud on the coast of northern Africa, telling tales of great ancient rulers, such as Cleopatra, to all curious visitors and history enthusiasts. Egypt has something for everyone.

Let’s explore the riches of this beautiful country, and find the line between enjoying the mysterious history of Ancient Egypt and tradition of Modern Egyptian cities.

    1.  THE FLIGHT

    ––––––––

We slept late and barely got to the airport in time to catch our plane.

The dawn was unbelievably beautiful, and the sky consisted of most of the colors of the rainbow.

Our group of tourists left Europe at 5.30 AM; three hours later we crossed the border of the African continent.

The views from the plane window were almost unbelievable: the yellow space of a desert, combined with brightly colored blue-green patches of numerous lakes, scattered here and there. That scenery was breathtaking. We were literally hypnotized, silently watching the odd and unusual landscapes, and feeling as if we were on some other planet, not the Earth.

The pilot announced we were flying right above the Giza area, and the famous ancient Egyptian pyramids were now easily visible to all the passengers on our aircraft.

Flying onwards, we saw a lot of buildings in the desert. It was shocking to realize that there were people living in a place where there were no trees, no shrubs, no grass, or indeed anything green at all.

Such were the first impressions of the trip.

When we landed and made our first steps on Egyptian soil, another surprise was the pretty strong wind combined with the hot air temperature.

Us Europeans are not used to such a weather combination; with our moderate climate we typically experience little to no wind during summer heat, and if it does get really windy then usually the air temperature drops radically.  Here everything was different.

It felt like: Hey, have we landed somewhere on Venus or Mars?

In this travel guide, you will find a lot of interesting and intriguing information we learned about this mysterious place, and see the pictures taken during the journey.

We bet that during your childhood you were fascinated about the tales (in books or movies) on Ancient Egypt, pharaohs, mummies, etc.

Marked by these memories, lots of people choose to spend their vacation in this Northern African country and visit its famous monuments, as even the most inexperienced travelers have heard of the Pyramids, or the Sphinx of Giza. Others travel to Egypt because of its sandy beaches and 5star resorts, and are less interested in the culture.

In this chapter we're going to talk about where you can stay and what you can eat in Egypt.

Hotels (and places to stay, generally) are split in two big categories: those for foreigners and those for locals or really low-budget travelers.

The first type of establishments is generally found in the main tourist areas, such as Sharm-El-Sheik, Luxor or the Sinai Peninsula. We're talking about 4star or 5star hotels that cater to a visitor's nearly every desire. Most of such places offer all-inclusive packages that include lodging, food, activities inside the premises, but also long weeks of lying on a beach. You usually book these in your country of origin, at a travel agency.

More courageous visitors use online booking websites, like Booking.com.

Although hotels in Egypt are generally safe to book online, it is best to use only well known websites that have good reputation, so that you won't have any surprises.
