Turkey: The Crossroads of the West and East
––––––––
With some of the best cuisine in the world, stunning landscapes such as Cappadocia, epic beaches and mountains, Turkey has captivated many hearts across the world.
You need to visit this country to understand it. Amazing nature, ruins and bazaars are impressive. When you have an opportunity to go and travel across the country, you get inspired by the surroundings, the people, the arts, the architecture and almost everything you come across! It feels adventurous.
If you are looking for peace, turquoise waters, white sand and great gastronomy, Turkey is one of the best destinations on the Earth to truly perceive what it means to be a traveler.
The main sights of the country are Istanbul, Cappadocia, the Mediterranean and Aegean Coasts.
Turkey’s largest city, Istanbul (formerly known as Constantinople), is one the main urban areas of Europe. It’s a strategic point, situated exactly at the boundary between Europe and Asia, and a site with great historical importance.
The city has two international airports serviced by Turkish Airlines’ extensive global network, as well as road and rail connections.
Istanbul benefits from its historical status as the capital of the Byzantine and then Ottoman Empires. This place was a major political center in Europe for almost a thousand years.
Nowadays, Turkey is the regional power in the Middle East. Situated in what the Romans used to call Asia Minor, it’s one of the world’s fastest developing countries and one of the few (if not the only) modern political democracy inhabited mostly by Muslims. Partly for these reasons, Turkey attracts more than thirty million tourists every year, making it the sixth most popular destination on the planet.
