For seekers of wide-open spaces, adventures and culture, Mongolia has much to offer. The capital is a 180-degree contrast – a big city teeming with people and unique attractions. Squeezed between Russia and China, Mongolia seems hard to reach given recent geopolitical events in its two large neighbours, but Mongolia’s doors are open.
REOPENING DOORS
Mongolia roared back to life after two challenging pandemic years that shut down the economy and tourism. Bars, restaurants and nightclubs are now abuzz as locals shake off the cobwebs and get back to having fun. Now the government wants foreign visitors to return too, and has declared 2023 and 2024 as “Years to Visit Mongolia”. One of its initiatives will exempt citizens of 34 countries from visa requirements for up to 30 days until the end of 2025. Most of Europe is included, along with Australia and New Zealand.
