The Fixing Company - Charlette Morgan

    Chapter 1

Amy often wondered how people could allow themselves to be so caught up in their lives that they ruined those lives, and the lives of their families, before they stopped and said enough, let’s fix this, something is wrong.  If a couple have problems, then stop and find out the source of the problem. Then bring a plan to the discussion and work together to find the solution. Most couples blame money, some blame the children, and others their family members.  Some, like the people in the file that she was going over for the third time, just got tired and drifted apart.  All the outside influences and day to day pursuits had left them with nothing in common except a fondness for each other.  Luckily, this couple wanted to try to stay together and were willing to explore any proven method to find that lost passion for each other.  This would be a challenge, but she believed that the company could help them.

She hit the intercom and told Kissy to send them in.  She watched as a man and woman walked in the room and looked around.  The office was set up like an open concept home.  Amy decided to have them sit in the living room area.  When they sat together on the small couch Amy knew that they would work to salvage their marriage.  Had they sat opposite from each other, then she would know that there would be a lot more work to keep the couple together.  This couple should be easier than most.

Mr. and Mrs. Rhodes, it is nice to see you today. Amy watched the wife for any tells, if the woman touched her husband, or vice versa, she could find out which of them initiated the need for help to work on the marriage.  Neither moved.

So, can you tell me why you scheduled this meeting? And may I call you Don and Barbara?  I am Amy.  She offered a friendly smile.

Don took the initiative to speak first, showing Amy that he was the leader of the duo.  He was a handsome man with brown eyes and brown hair that had just a hint of grey at his temples.  He was a fairly large man, and Amy could see that he must have been one sexy hunk in his day.  He would still garner attention from some females despite his slight tummy and the grey hair.  His brisk questions were to the point, and he acted like this might be a waste of time, but he would be open to any reasonable ideas as long as his wife wanted to try.

I understand that you have quite a reputation for helping people relearn to be happy with their lives.  How exactly do you plan to make our lives mesh again?  What does your therapy involve, and what the Hell does it mean in your information sheet that couples would be separated for at least a week, initially?  We want to make this work, but how can we learn to be together if we are apart?  Don sat back and waited for his answers, like a boardroom chairman asking his advisors for results.

Amy smiled and attempted to answer his questions.

We enjoy our reputation because we are successful, she stated.  She held up one finger, our therapy involves every aspect of your personal life.  She lifted the second finger.  We have found that for our clients, it is easier to miss someone for a week knowing that that person will be reunited with you at the end of that week, rather than a lifetime of being without that person due to a bitter divorce or separation.  She lifted the third finger indicating she answered his questions as they had been asked.

Now, shall we get to it? You can ask any questions you may have while we are going through the process today, once you decide whether or not to stay with us. If you decide to continue with the sessions, your money will not be refunded and will be forfeit. You will also have to sign this nondisclosure contract before we can proceed. Please read it carefully and initial each page at the bottom then sign and date the last page.

Amy left them to read and talk about the contract while she went to the kitchen area to brew some Columbian coffee. She loved the scent of the darkly rich drink and the taste made her a happy girl. She kept an eye on the couple seated with their heads close and sent out a small prayer that they could work out the kinks and make their marriage work. Barbara was a bit on the short side and had bleached platinum blond hair. She was a bit overweight, but that was to be expected from fifteen years of marriage and having her body stretched out of proportion by birthing three children. Her figure was still hourglass and her breasts looked real. She had a wonderful smile and beautiful sparkling green eyes. It was obvious that Barbara deferred to her husband by the way she looked directly at him when he spoke.

Amy poured three mugs of coffee and added cream and sugar to the tray before taking it over to the couple. Setting the tray on the table and taking her mug, she sat down and waited for the couple to decide what they were going to do. As expected, they signed the Contract and handed it to her. Now the hard part began, she thought.

She looked at Barbara and asked, What do you think is wrong with your marriage? Barbara started to turn her head to look at Don no Barbara, look at me please when we talk. I am not asking Don for his opinion right now, I want your thoughts on what needs to change.

Apparently Don was never home when she needed him, his company was growing and he worked late almost every night. He would be a grouch when he got home and nothing she did was good enough for his high standards. When she used to save his dinner for him, he complained about it being not as good as it should be, his shirts were not ironed with starch like he liked, and the kids ran around like unfettered animals when he tried to work from his home office.

Then Amy asked her about their sex life, was it satisfying and fulfilling?  Barbara did not speak another word, instead tears ran down her cheeks and she shook her head. Don snorted and muttered something like, what sex life?

Then Amy looked at Don and asked the same question, What do you need from this marriage? He just wanted the girl his wife used to be. Sweet, accommodating, and always ready to satisfy his needs. He was tired of her passing out before eleven pm every night, and nagging him to spend time with her and the kids. They enjoyed the money he made and he had to work to provide that income. What the hell did she expect? Money did not grow out of the ground.

Barbara found her voice and said that he had not been working every night, she knew he had had an affair with that red haired woman. He did not deny it; he rolled his eyes up and tightened his lips to say it was over, Stop dragging that up, maybe if you had not been so tired all the time I would not have considered her to begin with. I have stress Barbara, what should I do? Come home to a woman passed out in my bed and wearing those shorts and a t shirt? Damn woman, you look like an unmade bed most of the time when I am home. You do not stay in one place long enough to even nail you for a quickie when I am home.

The tell were his words when I am home Amy could see that the man loved his wife and she loved him, but neither one had any control when it came to their relationship. He was Dominant, she a Submissive that was trying to be everything all the time. Dom’s did not like being ignored. And Sub’s like Barbara needed to be shown and told how important they were to the Dom’s life.

Barbara was not jealous, she was hurt. She needed his approval and his direction at times and he, in his absence, was withholding his innate role as the family leader.  Neither was allowing themselves to take their roles in the household.

Amy listened and watched the two talk, at least they were not yelling and cutting each other with painful words that would stick with them. Words had power, and even when a person forgives the words, they stay in the back of your mind, trotting out the next time a problem arises. Time to take charge of the meeting and get this couple started with the programs.

This is what is going to happen; Barbara is going to go with our staff to start her intake process now. Amy got up and pressed a button on her desk and two people entered. This is Helen and Gregory, and this is Barbara. Please take her to intake and proceed from there. Barbara stood up and nervously looked at her husband as if to ask if it was ok, Don nodded his head, so she leaned down to give him a quick kiss before turning and walking out with her escorts.

Amy waited for the trio to leave and then got down to business with the husband. She wondered if he even knew what he needed in the relationship other than sex once in a while. He was about to be taken out of his comfort zone and placed in his proper place, but he would thank her later.

    Chapter 2

Don was taken to a small cabin and left with instructions to make himself at home. They attached a small ankle bracelet to his right ankle and told him it monitored his heart rate, nothing complicated about it. When he asked for his luggage, he was informed that he would not need it. Clothing and necessities were provided for his stay. His dinner would be brought to him and he was to
