Wenzel glided his e-bike up the sunset lit back road, glancing at the screens bottom of his face shield. His drive-by satellite markup map showed the dead end ahead could double as their backdoor entrance, and their best exit point. Having scrutinized the country estate houses from the front, he needed go over this messaging job with Detroit.

Site’s got a class one layout, Dee. He spoke into his helmet mike. How’s our personnel list?

Narrowing that down. One confirmed. Detroit’s voice came clear through Wenzel’s helmet telecom. The guy lived off campus by choice and by strategy, somewhere around the city—best not to know exactly. We got a self-proclaimed colors expert volunteering on composition—the guy rides too.

We’d need a team of four for the late-night, Wenzel said. Hazel might be good to ride. He could picture his woman’s eyes, color like her hair matching her name. She did the insider psych track of people, and rode better than any.

Yokay, Detroit said. And Wenz ... looks like we got us an empty house tomorrow.

    Excellent. Which one?

Detroit moved a cursor to circle the house on Wenzel’s face shield map. Back of the estates—he should see the place from the dead end.
