About this ebook
It's 2049, and humanity is dying.
However, there is hope we can return. The A.I. program known as the Human Intelligence Vaulting Experiment was designed to extract the memories, genetic codes, and knowledge from its patients. When the fallout of nuclear war passes, and the Earth is habitable again, it will clone and reintroduce the human species with all of our collective knowledge and give us a better second chance. Our only chance. But Desmon can't release the ship yet. Not with the way it's been talking.

The yellow smog was worse that morning. He could barely see his feet in the haze as he walked. Over the whirring of his respirator, he could hear the choking coughs of the city’s unseen people. He’d gotten lost twice, so he kept his left hand on the sleek skyscrapers and the rough lumber of boarded shops. It was a long walk to the lab, and Desmon dreaded it every morning.
He remembered what New York used to look like. Vehicles hummed about on the ground and in the air. Street artists filled the city with music. He missed the cheers and the laughs.
Within half an hour he found his way to the lab. From the outside, no one would have guessed that the building had been converted into a laboratory. The steel building had been used as a hangar for a drone delivery service before the Flash to the north had destroyed the last lab.
Desmon approached the red steel door and entered a combination of numbers and letters into the code-lock. The door clicked, and he pushed his way inside. Scuffed white tiles clashed with the bright shade of red paint
