I'm just an American, a free thinking individual questioning everything, perceptions residual once neglected and rejected by Millennials I've met success intimate and instinctual And she has friends, Pride and Potential I've embraced them all and remain humble I've replaced those who cause me trouble I've misplaced others stuck in their bubble I've elevated those who disgrace themselves just in case the prophecy sells just in case idiocrasy swells I'm better prepared to wait.

PREFACE
It was the early Millennium. I was in college away from home enjoying my time away. It gave me a chance to reflect on my past, present and future. Where I came from, where I was, and where I was going. In these early reflections I first decided to keep a journal. I always knew I liked to write, but journal entries were quickly becoming rather boring and unfulfilling. They were just recordings of what I did, who I met, how I was feeling on a particular date. Reading them afterwards never provoked any thought or inspiration to continue writing journal entries. At that time (and to this day) my musical interests were strong. My favorite genre was classic rock and The Doors were (and still are) tops on my list. With songs like The Ghost Song
, Five To One
, The End
, Moonlight Drive
and many others swimming in my head, I began feeling huge inspiration to write poetry. My inspiration grows deeper when listening to Jim Morrison’s spoken word, found on the album An American Prayer
, particularly. My first poems and earlier works were bleak and dark for the most part, and not established enough for me to publish in this book. The poems you are about to read are more recent works dating back to 2013. There was a long span of time where I completely put down writing and even reading my poems, until finally I returned to writing in 2013. This collection of poetry
