Poet’S Pain - Kirk C. Olson
Love Recycled
With me, could you live
In a mansion? In a cave?
Every moment cherished,
Knowing nothing could be saved?
I learned everything is disposable
As a philosophical fledgling,
One memory with you
A million times recycling.
We are not saints,
We are not saviors.
Questioning again:
Would love change our behaviors?
Hearts pounding so intensely
In some lives it takes a year.
Love is a countdown to indifference;
In others it’s a lifetime of despair.
Tears remembered in reverse
End up waiting in your eye;
Rain reversed dries the earth,
As the drops jump into the sky.
Your smile creates euphoria,
Pure expression of happiness,
Just the memory I choose to savor
In my endless loop of loneliness.
Pink Ribbons for Chick
The First Annual Event—
Wouldn’t the second
Be a gathering
We’d like to prevent?
Wouldn’t it be great
To have to cancel it next year?
That’s the goal, that’s the hope:
Someone answer our prayer.
United friends and strangers here,
Everybody holding back a tear.
Respect for the cause, resolve to make this fun,
Everyone thinking of a loved one.
Some battles have been won,
Some losses inspired insights.
We will stand behind those
Just beginning their fights.
We see the joy,
We see the
