Acknowledgments
This book is dedicated first and foremost to God Almighty, the Lord Jesus Christ. He has been everything I could imagine Him to be. I thank God for being the love of my life. Falling in love with Him is the best decision I have ever made. I thank countless family members and friends who have stood by me through the good times and bad. I also thank those persons whom God has supernaturally placed in my life with a word of encouragement and hope, as I endeavored to write the words of this book. Without their commitment to hold me up in prayer, I would not be where I am today.
I thank God especially for my prayer partner, warrior, and sister
in Christ who stood in the gap for me on so many occasions. Emma has prayed earnestly and sincerely to God on my behalf so many times, and God opened doors for me as a result of her prayers. When encouraging me to write this book, she would say to me, If you put your hands to the plow, don’t ever let go.
I am truly grateful for her love and steadfastness toward the throne of God. When I think of all the prayers that Sister Emma has prayed on my behalf, my mind reflects on what the Scripture says, The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much
(James 5:16 ). There are many others, too countless to name, who have encouraged and helped me throughout my life.
One person, Tandy R., has served as a career coach and mentor in helping me complete my book. Often an accountability partner is needed when undertaking huge initiatives to ensure completion. Tandy has kept me accountable toward my goals, and for that, I am grateful.
A Special Thanks of Love and Appreciation for my children and sisters.
I thank God for my children, James, Roberta, Debbie, Tony, and Steven. It was not easy for them living in a single- parent home, after their father and I separated, and later divorced. But they loved me unconditionally. I love them for their confidence in my ability to take care of them. They never complained about the job I performed as a single mother, even when they were unhappy. Often, I would yell out of frustration. They would look at me with the utmost respect and concern. They somehow sensed that I was totally miserable with my newfound occupation. However, my children always displayed their belief in my ability to take care of them. In the beginning, they grew up in poverty, but were unaware of being impoverished. There was never a day they lacked for anything. I made sure my children did not suffer any more than they had to, as a result of the disintegration of our home.
I am also truly thankful to God for giving me my daughter April, who transitioned to heaven at the age of six months, after contracting meningitis. She was so very special to me, and I am thankful that she still lives on today in my heart and mind. At the time of this tragic loss, I thought God was punishing me for something I did wrong. That was not the case. God decided to take April to a better home. It is not easy losing a child, but each day I understand God’s love for me and my children. As a family, we remained confident and faithful in God’s promise to deliver us from all our trials and troubles.
My sisters, Teka, Karen and Debra, have been with me when things were good and not so good. They also have loved me, in spite of my faults. They allowed me to realize my dreams and have helped
