CHAPTER ONE

~Jason~

ISTOOD THERE IN fear and silence waiting for her response. Everybody in the boardroom sat there expressionless to see what she would do. I worried frantically that I had made a huge mistake setting up this entire surprise for her.

We had said no more secrets and yet I had kept another one. Maybe the drone was too much. Maybe having the actors and everybody behind the secret was too much. Maybe it was too soon. She just sat and stared at me.

I hoped she’d understand why I told her to be quiet to wait for the scene. I didn’t know what to expect from her based on the expression on her face. She was just as likely to kick me in the face from where I knelt as she was to jump up and wrap her arms around me.

I waited for what felt like an eternity until finally she looked at me and then looked down at the ring. I froze as she broke her stare, looking around the room, realizing that everybody had been in on it. My fears were relieved when she broke into a huge smile and tears ran down her cheeks.

Oh, Jason, she said, are you serious?

Jerrica, I’ve never been more serious in my life. I’ve wanted this for so long and I didn’t know how to approach it. I knew that whatever I did for you had to be spectacular and special in some way and it had to be a surprise.

Well, this was definitely a surprise, Jason.

So tell me Jerrica, will you marry me?

Yes, yes, I would love to be your wife. It would mean the world to me to marry you.

I took the ring out of the box and slid it onto her finger. It was a perfect fit. It was no ordinary diamond, not for my Jerrica. It was a perfect princess cut surrounded by rubies, unique just like she was.

Everybody in the room walked over to stare at the ring and give us their congratulations and their hugs. She and I were elated for we had finally sealed our love. It was official. We were going to be together forever.

CHAPTER TWO

~Jerrica~

WHEN I SAW THE scene change on that tape, I was so upset. I could not believe that they would go behind my back and alter the scenes without consulting me first. I thought that I actually had some responsibilities on this job and to see that things had been done behind my back really upset me.

When Jason told me to be quiet, I felt inferior and I felt like I was being belittled.  I was so hurt. I didn’t realize that he had something up his sleeve.

I should have known from the drone. It’s not very often a drone pulls up outside. But then again, it was Donnelly Multimedia. But at that second when he pulled out that ring and knelt down on his knee and asked me to marry him, I was bewildered.

I didn’t even see it coming. I was completely blindsided. It was more than I ever expected. Every little girl dreams of that moment in her life. In my whole life I’d never imagined a moment quite so overwhelming. It combined everything that I could ever imagine.

It combined Jason that I loved, the people that I worked with every day that I also loved even though they annoyed me to death. I was thrilled beyond belief and ecstatic.

I was in shock for the first couple of seconds before I answered. I was sure that I must have heard him wrong and I had to process his sentence again and again.

When I realized that he really was asking me to marry him and that there really was a ring in that box, I had to say yes. I couldn’t imagine living one day, one moment, of my life without him in it. I couldn’t remember what my life was like before him.
