Ted Danson & Mary Steenburgen ‘ It’s nice to be loved for who you are ’

Steenburgen have had to adjust to an unusual amount of quality time together during the pandemic. “We’ve been alone for the past nine months, and we’ve decided to stay together,” jokes the actress, snuggling close with Danson in the backyard of their LA home in early January. Adds the actor, “Every morning we get to choose. It’s a rule.”

The pair, who have been married since October 1995, began dating after co-starring in the 1993 film – but admit it wasn’t love at first sight. The alum, 73, had just gotten out of his very public relationship with Whoopi Goldberg and finalised his divorce from his second wife, Casey Coates, with whom he shares daughters Kate and Katrina; Steenburgen, 68, was divorced from actor Malcolm McDowell and raising their children Charlie and Lilly. “I wasn’t ready for anything like a relationship,” Steenburgen recalls. “We just kept becoming better and better friends until it was undeniable.”
