    Chapter 1

Samantha arrives at a fabulous retreat and begins looking around her vacationing suite. It's luxurious. Marble tiles line the bathroom, a balcony overlooks a sparkling ocean and the energy of is tantalizing. After she unpacks quickly, she lays on the double bed and stares at the ceiling with tears in her eyes. This was the place, the bed, the experience she was going to share with her fiancé Roger. Two months ago he'd called off their marriage. She's been devastated. They had been living together for two years so happily. She adored him. He seemed perfect for her. They’d talked so much about sharing their lives together and the family they would have. She'd (even) thought of canceling this reservation, but over the two months she been in grief and needed this for herself. Grief from missing Roger. Grief from missing her relationship and grief from the loneliness. It's been unnerving to go to parties without a partner. Going home alone to her apartment afterwards to an empty bed has been even worse. It's the loneliest time of her life. A lot of men would have liked have to change this, but she compared them to Roger. None got any further than polite conversation.

Samantha owns a boutique. With her flair for style, fashion and her hard-nosed business sense, she's successful and financially has nothing too worrisome to worry about. Her mind has become preoccupied with Roger and her loneliness, she's become stressed, her business has suffered and her accountant has said she needed a holiday. She goes to her balcony. The beach was bordered by palm trees, the sand was white, there were windsurfers scudding across the bay and gentle waves lapped onto the beach. She looks to her right and notices a big swimming pool surrounded by deck chairs. She takes in the view for ten minutes before she realizes she might enjoy it.

    It's time for a swim.

As she put on her bikini, she takes off her clothes and looks at herself in a full length mirror positioned for convenience.

35 and not too bad. Not too bad at all.

She's tall and slim with waving black hair which came to her shoulders. Big brown eyes, chiseled cheek bones and generous lips. The only wrinkle lines she has are those that display when she smiles. She's a competitive age group swimmer with lightly muscled arms, abs and legs. Her B-cup breasts look larger than their size as they proudly jut out from her slim torso. Her media entourage have always appreciated seeing Samantha model the clothes from her boutique.

She puts a sundress on top and wanders through the lobby. As Samantha looks through the resort shops, she notices the postcards and realizes there’s no-one she wanted to send one to. She resolved that she's to do something, so she booked a bus tour for the next morning and a fishing trip for the next. The gardens were huge and lovely with towering palm trees, a blaze of color from the bushes, buzzing from the insects and brilliantly colored tropical birds flitting through the trees. Only half the deck chairs around the pool were taken and Samantha found one in the shade. There were some family groups and some couples. Her heart sank, everyone was sharing this holiday with family and friends. Everyone except her. She heard shouts of laughter and looks around. There's a group playing volleyball. College students on vacation she guessed. About 10 young men and young women with tanned bodies aren’t too far from her and having the times of their lives. Her loneliness sunk in more and she opened her book. After an hour Samantha's hot so she takes off her sundress and swam in the pool. The cool water was refreshing and she pushed herself to swim 25 fast lengths. When she got out she's aware of men's eyes on her, but she's used to this and comfortably ignored them and returns to her book. When she's dry she put on her sundress and decides to walk past the volleyball court to go to the beach. A girl walked close to her to pick
