He stumbled into the long hallway, his grin amplified by his unkempt hair. Edmund rose and stared down at the police officer. You're rough. I like that in a woman.

She kicked him down the hallway. He tripped and staggered past gaol cells, his handcuff chains clinking against the bars. The officer stormed closer. You're a fucking nutcase, and you're going'a hang tomorrow morning. She leaned over him and whispered, I'll be there to see you when you stop kicking.

A smile drew itself over Edmund's face. And they said I was psycho? The fuck did I do to you? She grabbed his chain and pushed him down the hall. He stepped inside the gaol cell at the end of the corridor and she shut the door behind him.

He thrust his cuffs through the small hole and she unlocked them. Edmund whispered, How many?

She grabbed the handcuffs. What?

How many of your friends and relatives did I butcher like cattle, you Limey cunt?

The officer spoke under her breath as she gathered the handcuffs and chains, You're a British citizen too.

He snorted. Not after our war.

If they're all like you, it'll be short.

His hand snapped for her between the bars. Just out of range. The officer turned and walked away. Edmund screamed, Come back here and I'll show you what an Irishman can do. You can't ignore us forever!

Edmund took a deep breath and turned around to the cell. Everyone else was staring at the ground and walls, avoiding the raving lunatic. He smiled and approached one prisoner, who shifted as Edmund eyed him up and
