About this ebook

This partial anatomy of our etheric body was begun by Bertrand Babinet. See Babinetics.com. The present author has practiced this since 1987; and, with clients since 2001.
Pre-requisite topic ~ The Inner Family-Court will make most sense to readers already familiar with--and in partnership with--their own child within (inner child, basic, self, body deva, etc). Healthy partnership with your child within is the foundation for exploring the The Inner Family-Court.
Pre-requisite topic ~ Exploring your child within works best in a framework of ecumenical spirituality. I like to call it, 'God is my Partner.' Is a loving, forgiving God your Partner in how you explore and expand your Inner Game of Life?
The main issue is having adequate-sufficient psychic self-protection when moving and shifting invisible energies. A main benefit of an ecumenical spirituality is you are more likely to create adequate-sufficient, psychic self-protection, at the start and end of each session exploring your own invisible levels.
Inner Family-Court model is appropriate to grad students and anyone willing to expand their partnership with their own child within into a deeper, richer and more love-filled partnership Typically, this will be counselors, coaches, trainers; and, those interested in personality typing and archetypes.
Lots of new ideas here. If you feel overwhelmed, slow down and take it more gradually. Do more experiments to prove to yourself if X is true for you now--or not. A good starting place is to start with the four archetypes of a nuclear family unit corresponding with the four classical Greek elements:
Guinever-Mother-Wife ~ Earth archetype (pancreas-spleen, sweet taste)
Lancelot-child-daughter ~ Fire archetype (liver, warmth, blood)
Merlin-Wise, accepting Grandparent ~ Air+Metal archetype
King Arthur-father ~ water (steam-liquid-ice) archetype
Characteristic functional~dysfunctional expressions for each archetype exist for navigation purposes.
Pre-requisite skill: some method of self-testing (self-muscle-testing) workable for you.
Pre-requisite topics: Your Habit Body, An Owner’s Manual. The Inner Family-Court model takes these topics deeper. Using self-muscle-testing, we learn how in the gut brain, these four archetypes, populate the four quadrants of our etheric body.
With the Inner Family-Court in our gut, it's possible to see even more precisely where our habits and comfort zones are running us; and where distortions and disturbances can be unburdened.
With self-testing workable for you, distortions-disturbances can be tracked back to their quadrant of origin, a tremendous benefit for those looking for self-healing.
Prior to puberty, we live in and through our four gut-brain quadrants. Prior to puberty, our main task is building healthy self-esteem (Governing vessel).
After puberty, our conscious locus of control shifts from gut-brain to head-brain. Slowly after puberty, our main task is building healthy self-concept (Governing vessel).
In the head, four quadrants exist in our etheric body. Each is populated by an archetype. They can be given either Inner Family names; or, names from Arthurian legend, Guinevere, Lancelot, Merlin, King Arthur. Hence the Inner Court.
Each quadrant, in both gut and head systems, stores learned behaviors, memories, values, talents and responses to life. Our Habit Body plays back recorded habits, to the best of its ability, as appropriate and according to healthy Self-leadership. Which habits you choose to express, when and how--is your uniqueness.
Antecedents to the Inner Family include the work of Paul Dennison, Ned Herrmann and Katherine Benziger. The Inner Court moves fluidly between all these concepts and methods.

A book of open secrets, take your time

This is a book of open secrets. They simply aren’t widely known–yet. Anything mysterious here, be gentle with yourself. You’re likely to find new ideas coming at you pretty fast. No one assimilates a lot of new ideas quickly.

Take your time, one idea at a time. No rush. Avoid overwhelm. Anyone with exposure to remdial work with children can make use of the hand-holding visualizations and bean-bag exercises.

Yogananada has a phrase, spiritual adventurousness. Make it easy and fun to explore your own Inner Family.

Most other topics require self-muscle-testing. We estimate many topics hee are about 100 years ahead of general public acceptance.

The Inner Family is simple. The barriers we have to grokking and grasping it are all mis-educational and cultural, not actual.

Do you have any acting background? It helps if you do, a willingness to explore other points of view and other states than your own safe, familiar, predictable comfort zones.

Exposure to improv, dance, theater, comedy or drama helps. Any practice in exiting your own point of view and trying on the skin of another point of view, even an animal, other than yourself is useful. Kindergarten children love to briefly pretend to be animals. We do this with adults to get them un-stuck in their self-concept and imagination.

Exposure to Gestalt Two Chairs work, voice dialogue helps, any method-tactic to express, to out-picture, two sides of yourself in conflict.

This whole book is based on Babinetics, 1985-1997(?) and going on from there. I never asked Bertrand if he was aware of the 1970s four quadrant work of Ned Hermann and Katherine Benziger. I always assumed he was not aware of them in creating Babinetics. I never saw a practical benefit for basic research to mention them. For a book like this we have to include them.

Bertrand used and encouraged self-muscle-testing as the preferred instrument of uncovery and analysis. Ned and Katherine were only using pencil-paper instruments, self-evaluations. So, Babinetics pulled way ahead of Ned and Katherine both in terms of basic psychology research and effective applications. Bertrand’s studnets were largely limited to small groups of holistic healers and their clients. Herrmann and Benziger made the big bucks possible in corporate settings.

    A four cylinder car

If you have a car running on two cylinders, will you be satisfied with a car running on only one cylinder?

If you have a car that runs on three cylinders, will you be satisfied with a car that runs on only two cylinders?

This is why it’s so likely in the long-term the model of four head quadrants and cross-synergy will catch on. It models growth, maturing and personality development handsomely. It models wholebrainedness.

Just see if it makes sense for you, in your life.

Do you have ideas about how to organize and sequence this material better? Call me and share.

If you find yourself frustrated, find a diagram or characterization you can relate to, connect with your own personal experience. Build from there. If you get stuck give me a call.

    Orientation in images

Here’s the Inner Family in the solar plexus as it appears looking down at your own tummy.

    Dg-in-fam-gut-txt-quads

In the gut, the four quadrants are arranged around your belly button in a vertical plane, the front side of your tummy, in a parallel plane with the abdominal muscles and solar plexus. Keep it simple.

These four locations are the same in every waking human. They do not change over a lifetime.

The correlation organs in our gut goes like this:

Our capacity to react to life is primarily in our gut. A thumbnail:

Here’s how the two quadrant systems are oriented, turned 90 degrees from each other.

    Dg-right-angle of two systems

Q: Does everyone have the same quadrants and same placement of archetypes?

A: Yes, probably from about 1450 until at least Winter Solstice 2016. After Jan 1, 2017, no warranty, no guarantee things will stay the same. Your mileage may vary on ALL these ideas in 2017 and beyond. Placement of both quadrant systems; and, the different arrangement of the four archetypes in two sysems, is universal in all persons; at least, those who have liver on the right and spleen-pancreas on the left. None of these guaranteeted past Winter 2016.

    Chapter 1

    Orientation in words

This is about re-dreaming your own myths, stories and pesonal scripts.

Maureen Murdock said she wrote The Heroine's Journey in part to support women reweave the myths making up their web of belief.

As creative dreamers on our own path, we’re are called to revise and re-write our archetypal understandings, our mythologies.

This is the main application of Inner Famiily and Inner Court.

For readers aware of Goethean Holistic Science, everything done to uncover and develop insights about Inner Family-Court is a good example. Everything learned came from personal experiment, observation; and then, going inside to understand how what we are learning changes what I think, feel and know about myself. Then clinical experimen ts to see how the ideas hold up in supporting clients.

The uncovery of TWO quadrant systems belongs to research in the early 1980s(?) begun by Bertrand Babinet, L.Ac., MSS. Bertrand Babinet, PhD is an acupuncturist, innovator and healer in private practice. His system, Babinetics, for lack of a better word, is not easy to describe briefly. When Bertrand was teaching small groups, he showed us how to clear ourselves of disturbances, visible or invisible--anything we wished to work on.

From his web page: Babinetics ...assist[s] with the negative effects of long-term stress patterns and life crises. ... Bertrand is a health intuitive, holds a doctoral degree in Human Development, is a Board certified acupuncturist and has extensive training and experience in nutrition, healing herbs and homeopathy. His primary focus at this time is on healing the body...

The sole book on this prior to the first edition of this was Healing the Inner Family, seven steps to spiritual empowerment privately distributed, 1997. In early 2016 an eBook version was promised. Some of his other ideas are available as MP3s and CDs. Find him at Babinetics.com.

Bertrand was the start of many other Healing Toolbox and Holistic Brain Balance topics.

Q: How can my Inner Court be out of alignment with my goals and values?

A: Let's get our expectations clear. The Inner Court is not your rational mind, not your soul. The intelligence in your quadrants represent and anchor, in very efficient, artistic form, your capacity for storing and replaying learned behavior in your sub- and unconscious, your Habit Body in your head brain.

Q: Why do we need any images or archetypes at all? Isn’t all this just poems and metaphors on top of brain science?

A: Nope. I wish it was that easy. None of this is the physical brain; all of it is the etheric brain, the conditoning and memory we inhabit as souls to make choices and deliberate decisions.

Why all the imagery? Distance creates perspective. This is just as true in emotions as it is in perspective drawing.

From Jung’s day, archetypes began to be used to gain distance on our most tangled, obscure, unresolved distrubances, so we can gain perspective.

For clients archetypes are a way to distance themswlves from the emationality of self and family so a more process-oreinted, therapeutic direction comes into view.

    Chapter 2

    Healthy family as therapeutic metaphor

The poet and mens group leader Robert Bly often began facilitating his events into the inner world like this, We are leaving this world and traveling to another. Leave your preconceptions behind you because this will be new, partly familiar and partly new, unfamiliar. How else will we find the miraculous?

Exploring the Inner Family and Inner Court puts us face to face with many paradoxes and much mis-education we received obscuring unconscious patterns we use every day.

What is familiar here is earthly Father, earthly Mother, earthly Child and earthly Wise, Accepting Grandparent.

If you already know about King Arthur and Camelot, then Arthur, Guinever, Lancelot and Merlin are familiar to you as well.

What’s unfamiliar is the Angelic Plan to internalize these as a complete set of internal resources: inner Father, inner Mother, inner Child, inner Mentor.

The good news is these internal resources are standard equipment in the human psyche.

The other news is, our physical-material education, the last 300 years at least, has trained us OUT of connection with these inner resources:

Child ~ capacity for healthy self-esteem, imitate new behaviors, try new things, coachable,

Mother ~ capacity for self-care, connection with others, empathy, nurturing,

Father ~ capacity for healthy self-concept, healthy survival and boundaries, generous with strength, defend the weak,

Wise, Accepting Grandparent ~ capacity to mentor and be mentored, aware of tradition and peer evaluations.

    So far so good, right?

Inner Family Inner Court relationships and hand-holding

Where Oneness and whole-brainedness are goals, unnecessary separation and isolation are the most common openings to negativity.

A most simple image exists of all four members of a quadrant connected and united under the guidance of Conscious Self. This is teh image of four people simply standing, all facing in, all holding hands in a circle. I can find no such picture. Below is a square dance basket which spins.

    Dg-holding-hands in a circle

The easiest work and perhaps always the most valuable work is getting all four in a quadrant system connected and supporting them to maintain connection and teamwork, in our unconscious.

This can be as easy as creatively imagining the four holding hands in a circle; and, noticing if any hands are not connected.

The break in the circle would be a good place to focus attention and intelligence. Your unconscious genius is signaling some connection has been broken.

    Teamwork metaphor

If you prefer a team metaphor, then you are the coach supporting team morale, each member connecting with her three teammates, feelings supported by and supportive of her three teammates. Go team!

    Social dance metaphor

Because Inner Court members all have complete body images, all four can hold hands in a circle and dance, as in square dancing.

If you went to a Waldorf school, you may be able to imagine a Maypole dance, around a central internal, vertical column of light, with colored streamers.

This is an image of inter-weaving in the head, related to how thoughts are woven and how feelings and thinking are woven together. As an adult, you can participate in a traditional live Maypole dance at many Waldorf school May Fairs.

Whichever metaphor you prefer for four-fold cooperation, unnecessary separation-isolation is the common unresolved disturbance.

I don’t prefer them to dance or force them to dance. What’s best for you is what works best for you. Not too much dance is possible as none of the four can leave their own quadrant--except in their own imagination.

In a nutshell, the two quadrant systems empowers us, those interested, to begin uncovering, addressing and resolving broken connections present now and from earlier lifetimes.

My guess is all sentient humanoid forms on all 3D planets employ the two quadrants system.

I work with the Light, Christ and the Traveler as new layers of disturbance come up for me, as I can handle them.

Inner Family as classical four elements

In the quadrant systems, we are dealing with our etheric body. It’s highly conditioned, highly patterned. One way it’s patterned is with stable elemental associations. This topic goes all teh way back to Stener’s four etheric formative forces. The four Greek classical elements are earth, fire, air-metal, water (steam-liquid-ice).

    Guinever-Mother ~ Earth archetype (pancreas-spleen, sweet taste)

Lancelot-child ~ Fire archetype (liver, warmth, blood)

    Merlin-Wise, accepting Grandparent ~ Air+Metal archetype

    King Arthur-father ~ water (steam-liquid-ice)

Q: What about love? What about soul? What about Choice?

A: None of these are elements. Those are all UNconditioned, in Soul and Above. The movie, the Fifth Element, represents Love as the fifth element, in the center of the other four. As long as we remember this represents a change in octave, going out of conditioned Creation, we’ll be fine.

Bertrand’s orignal GEM I training had a binder of 20 pages of correspondences, developed out of five element analysis in Chinese Medicine. The value of these is they could be muscle tested. These charts did not really catch on and so are not in this book.

Complicating matters, Bertrand said in the 1980s the Inner Family was developed out of Chinese five elements. Since neither Bertrand nor I have ever found a useful correspondence for the Sprouting Wood element, what’s more true is the Inner Famly corresponds with the FOUR elements of classical Greek elements, not TCM.

    .v\V/v.

    Chapter 3

Solutions: Shaking hands, holding hands four

I don’t wish the simple solutions for healing your Inner Family-court to get lost in the complexity.
