My Personal Encounter

My Journey

I don’t know about you, but when I have any pain in my body, I kind of ignore it or take some type of pain medication and keep it moving. Now I know that is what we were not taught, but in this day and age, you don’t have much time to deal with pain with our busy schedules. But on the other hand, that might be half our problem, ignoring the signs and waiting until it is too late to get a help.

I have been healthy my whole life. Never smoked cigarettes, take an occasional drink here and there but overall healthy. One day when I got really sick in December 2009, while my sister was visiting from Arizona, I was thinking it could be the flu, because it was cold here in New England as always. I was taking all kinds of over the counter medication to help shake this flu off. I could not shake it if I wanted to. It just got worst and worst, so me being a woman, called my Primary and made an appointment. I explained to my Primary all of my symptoms and he, over the phone, told me that it sounds like some type of flu and for me to come in so I can get checked out. My sister and niece were on their way to the airport and stopped by to see me before departure. I remember hearing my
