No Smell No Taste

Colleen Garsed had what the doctor’s described as a stress-induced asthma attack after she was verbally threatened at her workplace. Previous to this incident she had never suffered from asthma. As of that moment in time, Colleen lost her taste and smell – for 12 years. In this interview with The Art of Healing, Colleen SHARES HER STORY.

So Colleen, you said the name of the condition when you lose your taste and smell is Anosmia?

Yes. It’s actually quite common. People have got it after a car accident and banging their head against the windscreen for example, and horse riders often get Anosmia.

So can you talk us through what happened to you?

A lady that I worked with threatened to kill me, and as I knew she had a criminal record, I knew she meant it. The incident came completely out-of-the-blue and when it actually happened, I couldn’t stop shaking. It was incredible, uncontrollable. My whole body was trembling. I couldn’t speak and I couldn’t move. I became curled up in a ball on the floor. My work colleagues found me
