Look who's talking!

Gazing over the hills, I breathed in lungfuls of fresh air.

It was June 2021 and I was celebrating my 40th birthday with friends.

We’d rented a lodge in Aberdeenshire and spent the days hiking in the gorgeous countryside.

But as I surveyed the never-ending sky, I felt something strange in my mouth.

A niggle. Odd.

During the following days, the sensation happened every time I swallowed.

A scratching sort of pain.

But nothing else was wrong with me.

After my celebrations in Scotland, I travelled to Suffolk to see my mum Sue, then 58.
