"Beginners" How to Grow Container Garden Vegetables and Herbs 'From the Dirt Up Series' - Kathy Barnett
Introduction
Without a backyard, you may feel as though growing a garden is not possible. In reality, there are many vegetables that can grow in containers. You can succeed in having generous amounts of delicious and healthy foods at harvesting time.
Did you know that using soil straight from the yard and into the container has many downfalls for growing healthy vegetables? Learn how to easily make potting soil for your vegetable and herb plants that is less expensive than most commercial types.
Understand your plants' root systems by learning how big they can grow at maturity. This will help you to chose the correct size containers. The materials they are made of is also important. I will show you wonderful photos, explain how to use uncontaminated pots and why one type of container usually requires more watering than others.
Many gardeners use plain pots to fulfill their seasonal growing needs, especially if the containers are being placed in areas that is hardly noticeable. If vegetables are being grown where they are highly visible, then you may want to use decorative pots to beautify your balcony, porch and other spaces.
Many eatable plants have beautiful blooms and awesome looking vegetables. They can be a really nice addition. This fourth book in my 'From the Dirt Up Series' will help you enjoy growing foods in small spaces.
