Walk A Mile in my Shoes - Rachel Hill

    About the Author....

Rachel B. Hill is a native of Charleston WV.  She was educated in the

Kanawha County School system and has a Bachelor of Applied Arts degree from West Virginia State Community and Technical College.

"Walk a Mile in My Shoes’ is a book written from the heart and is based on her personal life experiences.  Being raised in the church, as a single mother of two and a grandmother of one, she was able to center herself in God and find the true meaning of peace.

She reminds the reader through these pages, that it will not be an easy walk, but a walk worth taking.  By forgiving, detoxifying the soul, unpacking a spiritual bag and letting go; the journey becomes easier.

    ♫ DEDICATIONS♫

First, to the only living God, to him be all glory, majesty, dominion and power both now and forever!  Thank you for giving me this gift.  May this be for the up building of your kingdom and in your kingdom!

To you the reader... this is a work in progress.  At the time this book was written I was finding my way back to me, so I dedicate this book to you, the one who finds themselves on the same journey.

To my Mom (Elder Mary H. Hill), thank you for finding God during the early years of my life.  It is because of your salvation you taught me to never be bitter and for that life lesson I will always be grateful.

To my Dad (George W. Hill, Sr.), I am thankful that I was able to let go of the pain of the past and build a relationship with you.

To my Big Brother (George Win Hill, Jr.) you are my hero.  I admire the man of God that you are.

To my siblings (Anita, Jarrette, Luverdia, and Apryl) thank you for being in my life.  You all have inspired me in ways you can never imagine.

To my Daughters (Ashle Branham and Carlysa Brown), you are my greatest accomplishments.  You have no idea the times you saved my life.  I love you both beyond words.

To my Grandson (Breyln Skooter Pie), I am so glad that you came into my life.  I pray over your life, destiny and purpose constantly.  You have the whole world ahead of you.  Conquer it!

To my spiritual children (Keona, Carlos Jr., Carldario, Jarrell, Paul II, Sasha and Tiffany) I love all of you.  Thank you for seeing in me the caring spirit that would allow me to hold such a special place in your life.

To the Sisterhood (Tammy Louie, Susan, Prophetess, Cydney, Charlene, Brenda, Twinkle, Gloria, Monica, and Carmen) you love me, you help me, you listen to me and pray for me.  We’ve laughed, cried and ate together, but mostly we’ve talked without judging one another.

To my Pastors (Past) – Rev CC Corbett, Bishop JE Straughter, Sr., Bishop TD Jakes, Bishop Brian D. Moore, Bishop Jonathan Alvarado, and Pastor James Legg (Present) Reverend Paul A. Dunn - each of you in his own way has helped to shape my life.  Thank you!

I would love to name all of you but in fear of forgetting someone, I say thank you, I love you and I appreciate all of you who have been a part of or touched my life.

How did I get here: the journey begins

My journey begins after a long conversation I had with myself about the time I turned 44.  I will always go on record as saying that my 40’s have been a reflective age for me.  I had found myself unhappy, mad, disappointed and fed up with everything.  Without realizing it, I became toxic.  I was comfortable with getting by my past, but I forgot to release my past.  So, I found myself full of all this emotional toxic waste.  The acronym for toxic the Holy Spirit gave me is (Taking On eXtra Ineffective Care).  This is oxymoronic, as I was raised in the church all my life.  I was taught to love God,
