Make The Most Of Your Time, Not Your Job! - Dan Hawkins

    Introduction

Spare time is vast dream for many of us. We all wish we had the time to do the things we enjoy doing, and with the people we love doing it with. So how can we free ourselves from this time prison, throw away the key and forever be indebted to the world and what it has to offer. Well, it is kind of easy, we must learn that time is the most valuable asset to us all. In this world things come and go, friends, money, jobs. But time is forever slipping into the future; this is what we must treasure most. The proper use of time is what really makes us happy.

So, how did I free myself from the ‘I don’t have the time to do anything’ to ‘I have too much time, what shall I do next’. Please note that just because you have too much time on your hands does not mean you will be bored or exhausted of things to do. Several years ago that was the exact route I wanted to take, then things changed, and I chose to go against the flow. My time is now free to spend what I appreciate doing most; first and foremost I am very happy.

    How it all began…

At the age of 22 I was promoted to Kitchen manager for a well renowned healthcare brand, this was a great step in my career and catering is something that I had big ambitions for. My hours were relatively consistent, doing regular 40 hour weeks. But towards the end of year the first year in my new role, I grew impatient by the lack of opportunities being presented to me by the company.

At this time I had twin boys who had only recently been born, but I still rather selfishly pronounced to leave to work for the biggest and most recognized food and drinks brand in the UK, at one of their outlets. The job was still the same, but an hour commute everyday plus much longer and tedious shifts. This didn’t last long as I used to get home in the middle of the night to find my partner possessively trying to rock the boys to
