INTRODUCTION
My name is Maya Claridge and I was bullied.
A few years ago I would not have been able to say or write those words because I was too ashamed to admit what was happening. I was too afraid to tell anyone.
Because…
It was my fault. That’s what I believed. It was my fault that I was being bullied. I brought it on myself. I caused it. I was to blame.
You see…
IF I was prettier… IF I was skinnier… IF my teeth were straighter… IF I was smarter… IF I looked different… IF I acted different… IF I had more money… IF I had better clothes…IF I was more talented… IF I wasn’t so weird…IF I wasn’t annoying… IF I wasn’t ME… IF I wasn’t me…none of this would be happening.
If only I wasn’t me.
When you’re being bullied you start to wish you could be someone else…anyone else.
