    A Message from the President/CEO . . .

Greetings and welcome to another quarter of insightful study. We look forward to joining you for a series of studies in God’s powerful and transforming Word. For over 119 years, we have been motivated by the vision of our founder, Dr. R. H. Boyd, to provide you with the highest quality and most doctrinally-sound literature for the African-American church. This quarter is certainly no exception.

In this quarter, we turn our attention to a variety of Scriptures that are very relevant for our own day, dealing with the nature of faith and the certainty of judgment for sin and wickedness. In April, we will look at Jesus Proclaims Faith. These lessons, drawn from the Gospel of Luke, look at several examples of healing in this Gospel. In these lessons, we will see how such healings are a sign of the coming of the Kingdom. We will also note His special concern for the poor and dispossessed in the world.

In May, we will look at Living into Our Faith. These lessons, also drawn from the Gospel of Luke, call us to a faith that is growing, grateful, humble, and joyous. Luke’s Gospel is full of such practical wisdom that helps us to live out the values of the Kingdom of God in our everyday lives.

Finally, in June, we will turn to How It All Began. These lessons, drawn from the book of Genesis, examine the story of creation and the power and glory of God the Creator. The final lesson, drawn from the Psalms, shows us how to praise and worship God for His almighty acts.

Praise and thanks be to God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—for the blessings these lessons contain. May He bless you in your studies this quarter.

    In His Service,

    Dr. T. B. Boyd III

    President/CEO

    QUARTERLY OVERVIEW

This quarter has three units centering on the theme of growing in and living out our faith as Christians.

    Unit 1—April

    Jesus Proclaims Faith

Unit I has four lessons based in the Gospel of Luke. In the first lesson we learn that strong faith can produce a miracle. The second lesson shows us that through our faith we can be forgiven through Jesus. Lesson three teaches us that God has power even over the evil in the world. The fourth lesson teaches us that God will always welcome and forgive us when we have strayed.

    Unit 2—May

    Living into Our Faith

Unit II, a five lesson unit, continues in the Gospel of Luke to teach us ways to show our faith. The first lesson teaches us the importance of repenting. The second lesson shows the importance of giving thanks to God for the wonderful miracles and blessings He gives us. The third lesson teaches us to be humble in all aspects of our lives. The fourth lesson shows us that all believers should be like children in our willingness to accept and give love. Lesson five shows us how dramatically our faith can change our lives for the better.

    Unit 3—June

    How It All Began

Unit III has four lessons based in Genesis and a Psalm that provides Christians with further reason to have faith and proclaim the glory of God. The first lesson shows us that God created everything intentionally. The second lesson emphasizes God’s almighty power. The third lesson focuses on the blessing that man has to be created in God’s image. The fourth lesson uses a Psalm to show us how to praise God for all He has done for us.
